S. C. Smith
Now in her third decade of pampering guests, the innkeeper, a retired journalist whose career included editor of a major newspaper in Philadelphia, PA where she also covered one of the city's toughest "police beats", came to Eureka Springs in 1992 after she had spent 7 years sailing alone in the Pacific. (She bought a 35-foot sloop, taught herself how to sail and sailed mostly singlehanded from San Francisco to near Easter Island!) Previously, she had opened the first B&B in downtown Philadelphia in 1978. Her 277-page cookbook-memoir is filled with stories of her adventurous life plus a lot of her original recipes which she serves at the inn. She has just completed two books about all her sailing adventures, soon to be published.
"I love innkeeping....I get to meet so many wonderful and interesting people and creating the inn has given me a chance to do what I love best....restoring historic houses and creating fabulous dishes to serve guests!" says Sandra.
