The Santa Monica/Venice Bike Path is a five-mile path which extends from northern Santa Monica to southern Venice, which serves up a cross section of the city and has tons of bike rentals along the path!
Even though most think of cars and Hollywood when thinking of Los Angeles, California, its becoming easier to get around L.A. via public transportation and bicycling. Save yourself the hassle of renting a car and dealing with insurance, high fees and parking, by renting a bike and becoming familiar with the Metro. With this car focused culture comes traffic. Avoid this traffic and see L.A by getting out of that rental car!
Did you know that 100% of the buses in L.A. have bike racks? L.A. beats, NYC, Boston, and Miami for percentage of racks on city buses. With the Metro’s base fare at only $1.50 per trip or $6.00 for the day, using your bike for short trips and the bus and light rail for longer trips, is a no brainer! Bring your bike on the train as well (except during commuting hours from 6:30-8:30am and 4:30-6:30pm).
If you don’t need your bike for the last leg of your trip simply lock your bike up at the Metro station!
Since Southern California is known for having some of the best weather in the world, biking and using public transportation is an extremely reasonable way to get around. Speaking of great weather, continue your bike, bus and train travel by hopping on the Amtrak Surfliner and head down to the southern beaches! You can bring not only your bike but your board as well!
