For those who have traveled in Europe or seen backpacking movies, most rank Europe at the top for hostel travel, but many of these travelers have yet to stay in the hostels of California!

The Golden State has a long list of diverse hostels, including downtown San Francisco hostels, an all women L.A hostel, a wilderness Point Reyes Station stay, and a Lake Tahoe Hostel for hitting the slopes! Some of these hostels start at a mere $17 a night and they all have great reviews about the hostel and the interesting people they met!

Two hostels which really showcase the wide diversity of hostels that California has to offer are St Christopher International Hostel in San Diego and StayON Beverly Hostel in Los Angeles.

Who doesn’t love a free “all you can eat breakfast”? St. Christopher International Hostel provides free all you can eat pancake breakfast with tea and coffee, free shuttle buses to and from the airport, no curfews or lock outs, bike parking and a BBQ area! St Christopher’s is located in Little Italy of San Diego, but tucked away in a very quiet part the neighborhood providing you with a great night sleep after a night on the town. Next time you’re in San Diego, give this place a try!

For those of you who love hostels for meeting new people and saving money, but really want your own space, StayON StayON Beverly Hostel is the place for you. This “hostel for grown- ups,” provides private rooms located in Korea Town in Los Angeles. Each room has one American Full-size memory foam bed, 32 inch TV and an Iphone charger!
