Best Restaurant Contender: Key West, FL

Next time you find yourself in Key West, make sure to grab a bite at one of the best surf and turf eateries, B.O.’s Fish Wagon.
The sandwich shack has a lot of local charm that can be summed up with “no shirt, no shoes, no problem.” Buoys, nets, license plates, beer posters and an almost creepy mannequin sitting in a pick-up truck makes this the place to kick back with a beer and a burger.
Their fish sandwiches, particularly the grouper, are outstanding. B.O. rounds out its seafood offerings with fried scallops, crab meat, shrimps and the Key West specialty, cracked conch. If you’re more in the mood for meat, their 1/2 burgers will hit that spot straight on – make sure you make it “all-the-way” and add their Key Lime mayo.
Dinners come with homemade beans and rice, cole slaw or french fries. Their beer menu isn’t too expansive, but it covers all the basics including the favored island brew Land Shark Lager.
And if you really want to mix with the locals, come on Friday night for their live music. Gotta love island livin’.
801 Caroline Street; corner of Williams and Caroline. About $10-14 per plate.
