The most popular tourist attraction in South Dakota is Mount Rushmore. This is the world’s largest mountain carving and features the faces of four past American presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Next stop, Sioux Falls, home to the Big Sioux River, surrounded by state parks, where you can hike, bike and camp in the summer months. There are six state parks in the Black Hills area of South Dakota, making a South Dakota vacation perfect for nature lovers and camping enthusiasts. The Black Hills are located on the Great Plains and provide over 100 miles of scenic byways, trails, and wildlife. Try some of the nation-wide famous fishing and hunting during your South Dakota travels! Another famous state park you can stop at, is the Badlands National Park. This park is home to many different types of wildlife such as, the bighorn sheep and the black-toed ferret. Badlands National Park is also well known for the immense amount of fossils that have been found there over the years.
