Activities include hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, rafting, dugout canoe rides, horseback riding, sea kayaking, snorkeling, photography and various options, such as diving. We cater to all levels of physical activity and interest.

An early morning light breakfast (don't worry, it's not too early) precedes the day's activity, whether it is hiking, biking, rafting or riding horseback. Often, we will depart from a home base such as our jungel ecolodge for a short commute to the destination, such as a trailhead. Sometimes, the starting point may be right in our own backyard, such as the banks of the local river for a rafting put in. Halfway through the day, we break for packed lunches and then continue on with the journey or switch over to the afternoon activity. Evenings are free to relax and enjoy fine dining with the group, as well as offering a chance for us to preview the next day. Keep in mind that these trips cover a lot of ground so you must be prepared to travel on some days.

We cater to various ages and level of physical interest. Most people on our tours are interested in active vacations. They are generally healthy, although no experience is required, with ages ranging from ten years old into their sixties. Families, singles and couples have all had a great time on these tours.

Accommodations are generally double occupancy, although you can pay a single supplement fee to have your own room in most places. We prefer smaller, "family atmosphere" accommodations to larger hotels. Our choices include beautiful, quaint, family operated Bed and Breakfasts (hostals), thus keeping the income local, as well as haciendas in the highlands. In the city, we may stay in relatively small hotels that qualify to our standards, by which we mean a locally owned and with a commitment to unsurpassed environmental standards, such as biodegradable soap and organic food served. In the jungle we focus on cozy, environmentally sound ecolodges with screened rooms, patios with hammocks and a view, solar energy, kerosene and candle lighting and private baths with rainwater showers. We assure you that hey are more than comfortable. And the meals here (and everywhere) leave nothing to be desired, although we try to stick with local cuisine wherever practical.

We ask that children are at least ten years of age and that anyone who signs up for a tour takes responsibility for being healthy, and for thoroughly reading the itinerary ahead of time to ensure that they are up to the level of activity on the tour. We also reserve the right to not accept anyone on the trip who has not signed up for travel insurance before the tour begins, regardless of whether or not they have paid in full.
