Trawsfynydd lies on a high plateau ringed by the mountain ranges of the Moelwyn, the Migneint and the enticing, majestic Rhinogau in southern Eryri (the native Welsh name for Snowdonia, meaning 'land of the eagles'). A Welsh-speaking community, the village sits on the shores of the three mile long Trawsfynydd Lake, which boasts excellent fishing for brown and rainbow trout. On your doorstep you will find the magnificent Rhinogau mountains, home to wild goats, dotted with hidden lakes, valleys, cairns, cromlechs and stone circles, and criss-crossed with footpaths taking you from one stunning view to the next. If you still have energy to burn, four miles south of the village is the world-renowned Coed y Brenin Mountain Bike Centre and its challenging trails.
