Description
Thistle Marble Arch hotel, located just off Oxford Street, takes its name from one of Londons best-known landmarks. Originally built on the Mall as a new gateway to Buckingham Palace, Marble Arch was moved to its present spot in 1851. Its still pretty exclusive since only members of the royal family and the King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, are allowed to pass through it.
As the name implies, the Arch is made from Italian white Carrara marble, a favorite material of the Art Deco movement in the 1920s and 30s, when Thistle Marble Arch was built. Today, the hotel is one of the few genuine Art Deco buildings left in London.
Thistle Marble Arch is one of the few larger Oxford Street
Hotels with 692 bedrooms, including 193 Superior bedrooms, Deluxe
rooms and suites, plus 11 meeting & event rooms, the largest of which seats 400 people theatre-style. Car parking is always at a premium in this part of town and is available close to the
Hotel at an additional charge. If you feel in need of exercise, this hotel has its own Just Gym workout facilities on site, or you can take a walk in Hyde Park, which is just across the road.
