Immerse yourself in the rhythms and beauty of farm life through Let's Cook in Umbria's many adventures, Italian cookery classes and cultural activities.

The charming region of Umbria, renowned for its delicious food and fine wines, will be the setting of this 4 night/5 day Italian cooking holiday, tucked away on a delightful, functioning Italian farm, nestled by the surrounding hills and valleys.

In an authentic, relaxed atmosphere, you will learn timeless recipes for Umbrian and Italian dishes and create your own beautiful pastas and specialties in the heart of your host's home.

Covering a wide variety of skills, you will be perfecting pastas, accompanying seasonal sauces, and much more as you learn to cook an entire 4 course family style meal during each cookery lesson - not to forget the perfect desserts to complete them.

Your host Raffaella will be on hand to organize every aspect of your holiday to ensure you return feeling relaxed and full with mouth watering home Italian cooking, and a great collection of new recipes and techniques to replicate for friends and family.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - " Arrive in Perugia
Arrival at the country farm “La volpe e l'uva” (Perugia, Central Italy, Umbria, near Tuscany). Check-in your apartment from 4.00 to 7.00 pm.

Day 2 - " Cooking + Chocolate and Deruta Ceramic Tours
Morning. Hands-on cooking class starts around 10:00am. You will prepare a four course lunch that you will eat at the end of the class, accompanied by our wines.
Afternoon. You will visit the Perugia's chocolate factory and the Chocolate Museum to learn about chocolate production. The museum explains the process of converting cocoa into chocolate, and introduces the history of the Perugina chocolate company.
You will also visit a ceramic laboratory in Deruta where the majolicas are completely handmade. Deruta ceramics are a milestone in the history of Italian pottery. They gained worldwide fame during the Renaissance thanks to their creative and qualitative excellence. Their high quality products keeps the tradition alive and evokes the classic decorations of the various periods of Deruta. The production cycle is completely carried-out within the company and rigorously worked by hand in all its phases.

Day 3 - Cooking + Wine Tour
Morning. Hands-on cooking class starts around 10:00am. You will prepare a four course lunch that you will eat at the end of the class, accompanied by our wines.
Afternoon. It is a wine tour in a winery that produces Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCGS. You will have a guided tour of the vineyard, cellars finishing up with a test of local Umbrian specialties and the wines. You will also visit the medieval cities of Bevagna and Montefalco.

Day 4 - " Cooking + Assisi Tour
Morning. Hands-on cooking class starts around 10:00am. You will prepare a four course lunch that you will eat at the end of the class, accompanied by our wines.
Afternoon. You will visit the mystical city of Assisi, a beautiful medieval town based on Mount Subasio, overlooking a peaceful Umbrian landscape. The tour will allow to get to know the main landmarks where st. Francis lived. You can see the st. Francis Basilica whose superior walls were frescoed by Giotto and Cimabue. You will also visit the Eremo delle carceri, one of the oldest Franciscan convents.

Day 5 - " Departure

Groups are keep small and vary between 2 and 8 participants, to better enjoy each other's company and to get all the attention from your hosts.
We also accept bigger groups (up to 20 person) for cooking classes and tours in Italy. If you are interested send me a request.

LA VOLPE E L'UVA is a beautifully restored farmhouse set overlooking the Umbria Valley.
If you wish to experience the joy of authentic Umbrian living and explore the region and its splendor,
then La volpe e l'uva is the place for you. The farmhouse is in the beautiful heart of the Umbria valley, near to Tuscany, Italy, sourronded by 10 hectares of olive groves, vineyards and fruit trees.
Five independent apartments have been restored around the ancient stone house, which dates back to the 17th century.
It is only 4km far from the historic centre of Perugia and offers a suggestive view of the Umbrian hills.
The proximity to Perugia, makes the holidays farm's position ideal for visiting other artistic towns in Umbria , such as Assisi, Gubbio, Todi, Orvieto and the Trasimeno lake and towns in Tuscany like Siena, Arezzo and Cortona. There is a lovely swimming pool from which you can enjoy the panoramic view. All apartments have been comfortably furnished in farm-style teak furniture with great attention for detail. The farm lies on a hill and offers absolute peace and quiet with spectacular views of the surrounding hills and Perugia.
