Rafting in Taos & Santa Fe for 40 Years

Raft the white-knuckle whitewater of the world-famous Taos Box. Float through the spectacular Rio Chama wilderness canyon and sleep under a sky sparkling with stars. Take your kids on a family fun adventure they'll remember their whole lives.

Los Rios River Runners has more access to the Rio Grande and the Rio Chama than any other rafting company. From half-day to 3 days, from mild to wild, and everything in between. Come rafting with Los Rios, and meet the most experienced, the most knowledgeable, and the most fun river rafting guides in New Mexico.

We start rafting in March, and go into early November. High water on the Rio Grande usually comes sometime from mid-May to mid-June. The Chama has two seasons: May to mid-June, and mid-july to Labor Day.

Age range, type of groupkeyboard_double_arrow_up
We take rafters of all ages.
On the Rio Grande: the Orilla Verde float is suitable for the smallest kids and seniors. The Racecourse whitewater trip has a recommended minimum age of 6 at most water levels (we raise that when the water rises). The Taos Box has a recommended minimum age of 12 (which rises with the water too). All our trips are suitable for first-time rafters--but for the Taos Box, you must be in good physical condition and have a good sense of adventure!
On the Rio Chama: The Chama is perfect for families. It is rated easy Class 3, with most of the rapids at the end of the trip. Very young children can take out before the bigger rapids.
