Isla Los Brasiles is an island which receives turtles every night to lay their eggs. For this reason it is also an area of high poacher traffic. We are trying to work with the local population as well as environmental bodies to help the endangered sea turtles.
We are working to develop and create a small nursery for the eggs of the turtles that come nest on the island. Through this we hope to provide a small haven for the sea turtles and develop an awareness for the locals as well as the tourists that come visit us.
Our Hostel is also dedicated in maintaining the surrounding area clean through a variety of ways.
Surfing Turtle Lodge is working with local students and volunteers to clean the beach of human made products, such as bottles, cans, etc. Also the waste created by the Lodge is organized and sorted in order to dispose of it in a safe and productive way.
