Monteverde Lodge & Gardens sits on a bluff and is mostly surrounded by forest . The grounds, a combination of landscaped gardens and free growing forest comes right up to our doorstep, the creek that runs below can be heard from your room . The Lodge is located within a short distance of the two well-known reserves, the Santa Elena Reserve is a 20 minute drive and the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is a 15 minute drive . Experienced on site guides lead day and night time tours into the reserves . Our guides carry telescopes which make it much easier to see birds that are way up in the trees . The Lodge receptionists can also arrange activities such as horse-back riding, or visiting local attractions like a butterfly garden, local coffee farm or a micro chocolate factory . At the end of the day, relax in your wilderness lodge forest view room, experience the gastronomic delights of El Jardin Garden & Bar, and explore the botanical gardens where you can search for wildlife, take photographs and dine al fresco . .
