Iowa is not known for its cowboys and guest ranches. We can prove otherwise. Whether this is for your honeymoon, couples getaway or a memorable family vacation, you won't find a more intimate location. We are easy to get to. We have a honeymoon lodge. We use our home for cooking, relaxing and also extra sleeping quarters. Our ranch has an indoor riding arena to teach you how to ride horses safely. You need to be at least 7 years old to ride our horses. I will personally teach you to ride and take you trail riding. We offer 3 meals a day including a Iowa farm breakfast, a Dutch Treat lunch and a dinner that will include various beef, pork and chicken entrees. We will show you some Dutch Oven cooking over the fire. We provide home made snacks daily.
Typical Day
If you want to bring your boat or rent a pontoon, we are located across the road from Lake Red Rock, Iowa's largest lake. Volksweg is the paved bike trail that takes you around Lake Red Rock. Bring your bikes if you like. We also have Bos Landen, one of Iowa's top golf courses, so do not forget your clubs. We have a municipal airport if you would like to fly in. We will pick you up. And last but not least we are located 2 miles from the city of Pella, home of Pella Windows, Vermeer Mfg, Central College, our famous Dutch Bakerys, local meat markets and so much more. Remember a week goes by quickly when you are having fun.
Age range, type of group
Between being raised on the farm and also being Dutch do not expect to loose weight. You won't forget our food!! We have over 35 horses on the ranch including many colts. They are so entertaining. Now just imagine riding your horse through some beautiful timber watching the wild deer, turkeys, squirrels, birds and all the other wild life. Now you are back at the ranch unsaddling your horse. Grab some homemade goodies, a cold drink and sit back and relax. We have a beautiful fishing pond 12 ' from our house. it has bass and bluegill which are great eating. Sit back and listen to the pond sounds and watch as dinner is being prepared. You will truly have the experience of your life. I guarantee it, I am Darrell Van Hall the owner , cook, wrangler and maybe entertainer.
