Directions

We're only about 3 miles from the airport, and it's really easy to get here by car.

From the airport terminal or your rental car place:
Get onto Airport Rd., the airport access road, head away from the airport and you're going the right way.
At the first light, take a right onto Haleakala Hwy. and merge shortly onto Hana Hwy.
After a few hundred yards, the road will curve sharply to the left and become Ka'ahumanu Ave. (route 32). Follow Ka'ahumanu Ave. for about 2 miles through the city of Kahului.
You'll start going up a gradual incline and go under an overpass. Stay in the right lane.
Turn right at the second light after the bridge onto Market St.
Go straight through the four-way stop (Vineyard St.) and follow the road down and over the bridge.
We're the building on the corner on the right side, just after the bridge. Turn right after our building and park in the carport or in the lot behind the blue house behind the hostel. The front desk is in the main building fronting Market St.

Directions to the Banana Bungalow by Bus:
The city bus does have luggage restrictions. You can only take luggage on the bus that you can fit on your lap. If you have a lot of luggage you may need to take a taxi. A taxi costs around $25.

From the airport pick up zone #3 you can take the Upcountry Islander #40 or the Haiku Islander #35 to Ka'ahumanu for $1.

From Ka'ahumanu Center you can take either the Wailuku Route #1 or #2. Route #2 takes around 24 mins and #1 takes around 35 mins. Wailuku Route is free.

Once you're on the Wailuku Route you will want to get off at Pii lhana Terrace. You can tell the bus driver that you are going to Banana Bungalow and they will know where to let you off.
