Please be aware we have now moved to 34 Rayko Daskolov street, 500 metres away from our past location, map and directions shown on here are now correct for our new property.

The English Guest-house is a small family run guest-house situated only 2 minutes from the river Danube and 2 minutes from the main pedestrian centre of the beautiful city of Rousse in Bulgaria.
The English guest house is situated right in the very centre of Ruse, Bulgaria. Turning right out of the gate it will take you literally 120 seconds to the tranquil banks of the River Danube (Dunav), turning left will again take literally 120 seconds to enter the main square. The Vibrant heart of Ruse city.

The banks of the river are a haven for fishermen and women, a lively port area with small ships and boats passing all day.

The main square is simply wonderful, tree lined boulevards, cafe bars, shops, fountains, statues and some of the best Rococo architecture in Europe

The Hotel was fully refurbished in 2010, and although this work was done the original style of the building was retained.

All interior furnishings are brand new, but in a colour that matches the decor.

Very ceilings, with mouldings, huge doors, large windows making the house worthy of the name Mansion.

The most modern addition to the building is that it is wi-fi enabled, with fax machines and copiers for those on business, at times office computers will be made available for those wishing to keep in touch with friends and family, or just catch up on emails.

On the ground floor there are 7 bedrooms, 3 of which have en-suite bathrooms and come in a mixture of single, twin, double, triple or quad beds depending on your needs.

All rooms have curtains as well as nets, double glazed windows are fitted with fly screens.

Beds are comfortable, lined and towels are supplied free of charge.

Each room has its own TV with cable channels.

There are lamps, mirrors, wardrobes etc to make your stay with us enjoyable and give that feeling of being at home, which is something we work hard on to achieve.

The garden has table with parasol and chairs allowing us all to sit and talk in the evenings with a hot or cold drink.

Cold drinks, beer, wine etc can be purchased cheaply.

We will do our very best to ensure your stay with us is trouble free, restful and enjoyable.

For those wishing to explore our incredible rock monasteries and churches, as well as Rusenski lom UNESCO park and the other wonderful places of interest in and around Ruse we can arrange trips at nominal cost.

Directions

How to find us once in the city;

Situated near the largest hotel in Ruse the Riga. The English guest house is now located at 34 Rayko Daskolov street, Ruse, Bulgaria. 5 Minutes from our previous location. Please see map.

There are signposts showing directions both on the streets and the main square.

As you leave the train or bus station you will see before you the main street in Russe, Borisova street Going down this street will bring you into the main pedestrian square. Finding the happy bar in the far left corner you will see the main courthouse approx where the statue of freedom points (Actually pointing towards
Moscow) But using her as a reference point for the courthouse is fine, we are 1 street to the right of the courthouse (Rayko Daskolov street).

When you stand outside the Bus or train station behind you is the highest point in the Balkans the TV tower looking down the street with it directly behind you is the Statue of freedom, using these as markers its a straight line into the main square then follow the directions above.

If you have problems finding us please call and we will come to collect you.

How to find us if entering over the bridge from Romania.

Ruse, As I shall call it from now, is on the other side of the River Danube from Bucharest, and as we have the only bridge (At the moment) this makes it the most viable entry point when travelling from Western Europe.

As with most cities its industrial zones are on the outskirts, and must admit it doesn't look too good when you first enter.

It is getting better, just as you leave customs to enter Bulgaria, there is a new shopping mall which is nearly finished, roads are being resurfaced and once all the grass verges are planted it will be quite a nice first impression.

As you enter you will see large smoke stacks and cooling towers, these where misreported on one forum as a nuclear power station, it is in fact a furnace where most of the rubbish from Ruse was, and is burnt.

So, again, as you enter Bulgaria, whether your walking or cycling, you will take the first right at the roundabout in front of you, to get into the city would be about an hours walk, but if you are staying with us please call us and we will come and collect you, for those who choose to make it on their own let me describe what you'll see along the way.

On the right hand side of the road you will see very large silver pipes supported by columns, these are hot water pipes, the heat being generated from said furnace. This was piped directly into many apartment blocks, government buildings, offices, hospitals etc, and although it's not exactly a green process, this did serve the needs of many of the population.

This road is pretty straight so just keep going, as you enter the outskirts of the city, the road kind of doglegs, follow it and keep going, again very straight until again, it kind of doglegs, right, then immediately left, your nearly there

At the end of all this walking/cycling, you'll be at a crossroads, with a café bar just ahead in the centre of the dual-carriage way, take a right here, walk a few hundred metres down until you see a supermarket on your right, called CBA, cross the road so this is now behind you, and walk down the street between a row of shops, the next to the end shop on your right is the nearest tourist information office, and just across is a very good book shop, keep walking straight on until you see the statue of freedom, and voila, you are now in the main pedestrian square of Ruse. Stand facing the courthouse, opposite the statue of freedom, and we are 1 street to the right, about 150 metres down on the right.
