Looking for vibrant homebase for your journey in the desert? Looking for a fun, clean and comfortable place to call home for a while? Then 'The Green Backpackers' is the place for you. Come hang out with other energetic backpackers right at the edge of a natural wonder. The Green Backpackers is a hiker-friendly, eco-friendly and just generally friendly basecamp run by two experienced guides who have fallen in love with the region and share their love and advise every day.
We offer a fully equipped kitchen, a welcoming and warm living room, fresh linens, internet, laundry, full range of DVD's and most importantly - outdoor activities from hiking & backpacking to horseback riding and repelling- all is right outside our doorsteps.
As Part of our eco-tourism agenda, the green Backpackers operates from within the community. The 'wings' of the hostel are located in several apartments around one city block, tightly tied into our community. Some of our rooms are located within a 2 minute walk from the main hostel building.
Free sunset tours, star gazing nights, Bedouin experiences, ecological lectures and much more. Summer in Mitzpe Ramon - The coolest place to be found in the Hot Israeli summer!
* Volunteers are more then welcome as well. ** Sorry, but no kids under the age of 16.
By Bus from Eilat - You will need to get off at the station in the center of town. You will come up to Mitzpe Ramon out of the crater and the bus stop is immediately after you come off the traffic circle. That is the 'central' part of Mitzpe Ramon. If you need to take out money from the bank or buy food, then you might want to do it then, in order to save the walk back there later...
From there you need to walk on the main street (David Ben Guryion) towards west... (The bank and all should be on your right and the big traffic circle should be at your back). Walk straight and pass one junction and then you will see a small traffic circle with a big bolder (rock) in the middle of it. Turn left at the traffic circle and then the next right onto Nahal Tzia. Walk straight on Nahal Tzia until you get all the way down to the end of it. You will already see the green and yellow colors of the hostel straight ahead of you, peeping behind the gray apartment building
By Car - From root 40, turn at the big traffic circle - into town. If you are coming from North then it will be a right turn, and from Eilat - a left turn. (This is David Ben Guryion st.) You will pass the 'central' part of Mitzpe Ramon on your right. Pass the small traffic circle (with the big rock in the middle of it) and turn left at the next turn. This is 'Rehavam Zeevi' st. but the sign is only in Hebrew. Then you take your first left to 'Nahal Saliit', then turn again, immediately to the right, into something that looks like a big parking lot.
We are the first house on your left!
