The hostel is located in Gräsheden The Grass Heath. on the northern road around Sälen mountain range, close to St�ten skislopes. The first person to settle here worked as a gränsridare (border rider) and oversaw the border with neighbouring Norway. rnrnThe hostel offers practical and pleasant accommodation in double or multiple-bed rooms. There are washbasins and toilets in most rooms.
Showers and a sauna are also available as well as a self-catering kitchen. If your like to experience nature on foot, you can walk along one of the countrys longest hiking trails, which passes close to the hostel. Within an hours drive you can reach Swedens highest waterfall Njupeskar and most recent national park Fulufallet. The closest ski resort with maintained cross-country skiing tracks and ski slopes is ten kilometres away. Other mountain skiing facilities in the Sälen area can be reached within half an hour and STF Hostel Sälen is also well positioned for day trips to Trysil in Norway.

By car from the south:
Go straight through the roundabout just before you reach the village Salen.
Continue through the village and after about 20 kilometres you turn left at signs for Hammar and Stïoten. You find the hostel after 5 kilometres, on your left.
By car from Oslo:
Take the E6 north, past the Gardermoen to Hamar. Just before Hamar, turn right towards Elverum and Trysil. Continue through Elverum and proceed towards Trysil. Follow route 25 past �stby duty station.
By Ski Bus:
There are Ski Bus services running from Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Stockholm. The nearest bus stop is St�ten
