When planning your next vacation you might want to consider a trip to Washington D.C., the capitol city of the United States of America. A visit to the nation’s capitol is a fantastic way to spend a week’s vacation or just a weekend away. From jazz clubs to national treasures, D.C. has it all! Visit the home of the US president at the White House and tour the National Mall, where you will find monuments, memorials and important state buildings. Tour the Capitol building and see where Congress and the Senate meet to make important national decisions. Or you can stop by the Pentagon, the headquarters of the Department of Defense for the United States! There are many beautiful memorial sites to visit as well, such as the Arlington National Cemetery, the George Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and the Tidal Basin.

After a day full of sightseeing, head to downtown D.C. and visit one of the many museums in the city, such as the Smithsonian Institution or the National Museum of Natural History. Be sure to tour the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens where many exotic, aquatic plants are cultivated and preserved. Catch a baseball game at Nationals Park and then grab dinner at one of the many restaurants in Georgetown, a beautiful and busy D.C. neighborhood and home to Georgetown University. For you music lovers head to Blues Alley and check out one of the city’s many jazz clubs or pop over to the Black Cat, a popular nightclub. Finally, for those of you looking for some outdoor adventure, bike one of the many trails along the outskirts of the city, such as the Mount Vernon Trail. Feeling adventurous? You can rent a boat and sail the Potomac River!
