Sample a little “down home” southern cooking, while you take in a blues or jazz show. There are many natural wonders and recreational activities to discover within the Mississippi hills. The National Heritage area offers day hikes and the opportunity to learn about the local architecture and culture. Visit the Vicksburg Battlefield Museum or the Black History Gallery in Biloxi, to get better educated about the Civil War days. You can also tour one of the old plantations or Mississippi mansions to get a better feel for the old south. Up for an adventure? Hop the ferry to Ship Island just south of Biloxi, for hiking, swimming and boating activities. Take a bike ride along the Mississippi River or reserve a spot on one of the famed Mississippi River tour boats!
