Northern Virginia, particularly Arlington, Virginia, is a great place to stay when you are visiting the attractions in and around Washington D.C., the nation’s capitol. Within minutes you can get to the nation's monuments, museums and government offices. Be sure to visit the Arlington National Cemetery and the parks along the Potomac river which offer a wonderful area to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Then head to Virginia Beach, one of the most popular vacation destinations on the east coast. Relax on the sandy shores and grab ice cream and souvenirs on the 3 mile boardwalk. Travel to the eastern shores for a less populated Virginia beach vacation or to Norfolk and step onto the Oceanfront Beach that stretches into the Chesapeake Bay. For more adventurous family fun head to Busch Gardens or the King’s Dominion theme park and ride a rollercoaster and munch on cotton candy!

There are plenty of guided tours and outdoor adventures for nature lovers to enjoy throughout Virginia. You can check out an arboretum, go on a wine tour or go kayaking in the James River. History lovers, head to the colonial port cities of Charlottesburg, Harrisburg and Norfolk during your vacation in Virginia for ghost story tours, historic home viewings and colonial Virginia tours.

Next, may we suggest taking a road trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway where you can explore the heart of Virginia. Stop in the small towns of Botecourt County and stay in a Virginia hotel or a quaint Virginia cottage. Walk through main streets lined with candy stores, antique shops, outdoor cafes and old style movie theatres. There are also plenty of golf courses, resorts and spas where you can enjoy a relaxing and pampered Virginia vacation. Explore central Virginia, touring breweries and wineries and try some delicious southern barbeque!

Last but not least check out the capitol city of Richmond, where you can visit historical, world-class museums, city parks and the metro Richmond Zoo. Stroll cobblestone-streets in historic Richmond, lined with national monuments and traces of US heritage everywhere. Richmond is famous for its beautiful outdoor gardens, many open during all four seasons, where you can take a guided tour or just spend the afternoon exploring. Next take a historic tour of an old southern mansion. In the evening check out a live show downtown and stop in one of the cities chic bars or nightspots for cocktails and dinner.
