During the summer, swim in the heated pool, adorned with a spectacular, hand-painted mural of a sunken Greek ship embedded in a coral reef, surrounded by amphora vessels and a rainbow of fish swimming beneath the ocean waves. Or walk 1/2 block to a Lake Michigan public beach. The area's wide, white sandy beaches are the perfect place for strolling, swimming, or watching beautiful sunsets.

In the springtime, use Sherwood Forest's bicycles to explore nearby scenic lakeshore drive, or hike along paths in the wooded dunes and watch Mother Nature as she awakens and sends her welcoming chorus of flowers and scents.

In the fall, just outside your window, watch the Beech, Sugar Maple and Sassafras Trees paint a colorful picture for your viewing pleasure.

In the winter, cross-county ski through the dunes overlooking Lake Michigan or sled down the golf course hills. Or perhaps just enjoy some much-needed down time with a good book, a warm Jacuzzi, and a cozy fireplace.

Accommodations

This beautiful Victorian home offers inviting elegance in a wooded setting. Hardwood floors, leaded-glass windows, and wraparound porch add to the ideal surroundings. Guest rooms are complete with antiques, cozy wing chairs, private baths, Queen-size beds, and A/C. Breakfast is served each morning featuring such favorites as pecan streusel coffeecake, orange French toast, or potato quiche. During the summer guests can swim in the heated pool adorned with dolphins riding the ocean50 waves, or walk 1/2 block to a Lake Michigan public beach to enjoy spectacular sunsets. Bicycles are available for exploring the scenic lakeshore. In winter, X-country ski or hike along wooded paths, or visit charming Saugatuck, just 2 miles away. Rooms/Suites

Victorian suite
This Victorian-style suite has a bedroom and living room, it is decorated in the flair of the late 19th century. The queen-sized bed has a beautiful mahogany headboard, which faces a slate-stone fireplace and hardwood maple mantle, oriental rugs and great artwork. ornament both rooms.
This suite features a 125-gallon Jacuzzi facing a Spanish tiled fireplace, there is a wet-bar, complete with sink and refrigerator, separate shower and bath area.

Log Cabin Suite
The Log Cabin suite gives you the feeling of the great pine forests. It features a bedroom with an attached living room area. This room sports log walls planked ceilings and sanded floors. There is some great mission style and dark hunter green wicker furniture.
The bedroom area face a double-sided flagstone fireplace, while on the other side facing the fireplace is a 125 gallon Jacuzzi in a bathroom that's 24 feet long by 12 feet wide. There is also a wet-bar with bar sink & refrigerator, separate bath and shower area.

Black & White Room
This room has a queen sized bed with a beautiful mahogany headboard, antique armoire, oriental rug, two person sitting area and faces the woods. It also sports a private bath with 90 gallon Jacuzzi.

Treetops
This room has a queen sized bed, a private bath with shower. What's cool about this room is it has a mural painted in the entire room, all four walls the ceiling doors and trim-work, it looks like your in a high in a giant tree-loft in the middle of a field surrounded by woods.

Rose
The rose room has a full sized bed, a private bath with shower. The room is done in Laura Ashley, it has an iron bed, Kennedy rocking chair with an oriental rug.

November through April, let us wine & dine you. Book the entire bed & breakfast for 2 days or more and we'll have such a feast catered, your taste palates won't allow any leftovers. We've cornered the market on the best chefs Saugatuck and Douglas have to offer, including Tony & Dona Amato, the creative chefs of Cafe Dona's and the Red Dock Cafe, Keaton Stearns & Nick Von Ins, chefs extrodinaire of The Piper restaurant, and Matt Balmer, Chef of one of the hippest lunch spots in the area-the Douglas Dinette. Then we've got two incredible femme-fatales, Dawn Stafford and Trish Winchester, freelance chefettes of gastronomic delights.
These epicurean wizards will amaze and delight you in what will be your own dining room. Here's the details: dinner is $40 per person, guests must provide their own alcohol, and a 2 night minimum stay is required (deposit is nonrefundable if cancellation is made
within 14 days of the date).

Birthday Bash

You provide the birthday, and we'll handle all the arrangements. All you need to do is bring your birthday suit (and suitcase). Upon arrival, you'll enter a celebration-filled room with 10 helium balloons all
inscribed with messages foretelling of the wonderful event taking place, a birthday bouquet, a couple of cool party hats, a camera to remember the day and a wine and cheese basket. We'll also include for your gastronomical pleasure a voucher toward dinner at one of Saugatuck's finest restaurants. But the piece de resistance is a specially made birthday cake.

MONOPOLY TOURNAMENT

November through April, book the entire bed and breakfast for two days or more and let us organize the game of a lifetime. Take a CHANCE on putting Hotels on Boardwalk and Park Place while you mortgage your friends to the poor house. Here's the gameplan--there will be six games total, two at the same time. Each game will have 5 players and will last 90 minutes. At the end of 90 minutes, the game referee will tally up who has how much loot on the official scorecard. Then we'll do a player shuffle, take a break and resume the real estate turf wars. At the end of the third round, the scores will be tallied up and the WINNER, who will be the envy of all around, will receive a COMPLETE SET OF SHERWOOD FOREST GEAR. (the losers will each receive a Sherwood Forest coffee mug). Lunch will be catered during the recess.
( a two night minimum stay and 50% deposit are required. the tournament including lunch is $30 per person, plus the off season room rate)

Directions

Directions from Detroit area: take 96 West to 196 South
(toward Holland). Exit off 196 at #41 Saugatuck/Douglas
exit) and turn right at the end of the exit ramp (so you'll be heading south on Blue Star Highway). Go 3.5 miles from exit, then turn right (west) at Center Street (there's a stoplight and Shell Gas Station on corner). Go 1 mile on Center-we're on the right-hand side.
Directions from Chicago area: take 94 East to 196 North
(toward Holland/ Grand Rapids). Exit off 196 at exit 36
(Douglas/Saugatuck) and turn right at end of exit ramp (so you'll be heading north on Blue Star Highway). Go 1.5 miles from exit, then turn left (west) at Center Street (there's a stoplight and a Shell Gas Station on corner). Go 1 mile on Center Street-we're on the right-hand side. (Or if you're familiar with the Skyway, you can take that to the Detroit/Lake Station exit, then get back on 94 East to 196 North etc.)
