Active Adventure

Come experience the traditions of a truly unplugged vacation. The intensely blue skies, fresh breezes, comfortable cabins, sumptuous meals, and variety of outdoor recreation combine to make your vacation one to remember for a lifetime. These things have helped us build traditions, both for our guests and our family and staff. Many who vacation with us return for generations, sharing this extraordinary experience with their children and grandchildren. Well over half of our guests have vacationed with us before. The ranch offers an all-inclusive weeklong program with guests arriving and departing on Saturday.As you might expect, the primary focus is our excellent riding program. You will be paired with a mount for the week, matching your riding level and expectations to a horse with the right personality and expectations. You will ride with a small number of other guests who are looking for a similar experience and a wrangler. We also have an amazing youth program, which will keep your children entertained, active, and involved. The counselors’ only focus is the vacations of our younger guests. When your children are not riding, they lead them in games, crafts, nature walks; the activities available are limitless, and based on the interest of the children.

Typical Day

Horseback riding is a major focus at Rock Springs. Because we own our horses and know their dispositions, we are able to match them to riders based on both personality and skills level. Riders at Rock Springs range from first-time beginners to those who ride competitively.With access to over 12,000 acres of land, our diverse terrain offers a variety of riding options with areas of high desert Juniper pine and sagebrush as well as tall ponderosa pines, bitterbrush, and manzanita. Ridges and rim rock offer sweeping views of the Central Cascade Mountains and open areas allow for cantering and off trail riding.A highlight of Rock Springs' summer season is our youth program. Our guests age 3-5 and 6-12 have a staff of five full-time youth counselors to ensure a wonderful vacation experience. A fun, flexible program is designed around the interests of the children joining us for the week. Counselors are on duty from 9:00 in the morning until about 8:30 in the evening. The flexibility of the program allows parents to spend time on their own and with their children.The nature of our program changes weekly based on the interests and imaginations of the children. Activities include team sports, riding, and swimming as well as crafts, nature walks, and story telling.Several popular youth activities are scheduled every week. The children stage a talent show for the adults, go on a dinner hayride and camp out, and design and build a pi񡴡 that they break at games night on Friday. The children also will often choose to join in the adult evening activities such as interpretive nature walks.

Age range, type of group

Because of our ourstanding youth program, most of our guests come as families. Often these families include multi-generations who want to build memories together while still meeting the diverse needs and expectations of each family member. Because the children spend most of their day pursuing their own adventures, adults have a good deal of time to talk and spend time with other adults. This allows those adults traveling alone or without children to enjoy the company of others, without feeling that they are not a part of the program. For those adults who prefer to vacation with fewer children around, late August provides a quieter time at the Ranch, when many children have returned to school.

Sleeping and meals

Nestled beneath tall ponderosa pine trees, the cabins at Rock Springs feature knotty pine paneling, comfortable furnishings, and are decorated in a warm western motif. You will feel at home in our two and three bedroom suites equipped with all the amenities our guests expect for a week's stay.All cabins feature private entrances, a relaxing sun deck, and bathrooms adjoining all bedrooms. Most also have fireplaces and wet bars. Along with daily maid service, bath amenities include salon quality bath amenities, and our trading post is stocked with toiletries in case you forget anything. Laundry facilities are available at no extra charge.The Owl's Nest and Killdeer cabins hearken back to days of old in Central Oregon. These units were brought over from the Brooks Scanlon Timber Company where they were the living quarters at the logging camps. Renovated to suit Rock Springs' standard of comfort, the cabins still give one the feeling of a time long past.The lodge at Rock Springs is the perfect setting for relaxation after a day of fun. With decking extending the perimeter of the lodge, there is plenty of space for visiting with new friends or finding a quiet spot overlooking our natural spring-fed pond for personal reflection. The massive stone fireplace, vaulted ceiling and cozy overstuffed leather chairs in the living room also beckon an early morning coffee before starting the day.Swimming pool, hot tub, tennis courts, meeting facilities, billiards, horseshoes, volleyball court, children's playground, campfire pit, outdoor barbeques..

Restrictions

Rock Springs offers all the amentities you come to expect at in deluxe accommodation. Daily maid service, laundry facilities, massage, facial treatments, and complimentary shuttle service from Redmond Airport are just a few of the great services we offer.Pets are not allowed, and smoking is restricted to the outdoors.

Rates

Our rates are weekly, and all inclusive. In 2007, an adult, single occupancy is $2,845, double occupancy is $2,440. A child age 6-17 is $1,895, and a young child age 3-5 is 1,610.Our guests visit Rock Springs from all over the globe. Most of our guests are families with children between the ages of 3 and 16. Rock Springs has something for everone in the family. With almost 30 championship golf courses within 40 miles of the ranch, whitewater rafting, hiking and other activities, the ranch is suited to meet all interests. Grandparents traveling with their grandchildren also find Rock Springs to be an ideal vacation experience.
