Active Adventure

Crab Apple Whitewater is a family owned and operated adventure business in New England. Since 1983, we have offered a wide range of Mild to WILD river rafting trips for families and high adventure seekers in central Maine and the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts. We have two beautiful, riverside base camps to keep our guests comfortable. Our guides are trained as family members and to treat each guest as the most important guest of the day...better guides mean better rides! We run trips on high water in the spring, on dam controlled Class 2-4 rapids in the summer and through fall foliage season. Let our family and Crab Apple staff show you the wonders of New England rivers.

I have recently rafted The Monroe Bridge section of the Deerfield River with Crab Apple. Our whole day was so incredible and memorable. Our guide on the river was enthusiastic, entertaining and knowledgeable. He had lot to say (and sing about). The river was action packed with rapids that progressively got larger as the day went on. It also had plenty of spots to "play", surfing and riding the bull. My favorite part was a rapid called Dragon's Tooth. We had to paddle hard through this class IV rapid to help avoid a large rock called "the tooth". We were rewarded with a huge hit toward the bottom of the rapid, soaking everyone in our boat! Back at Crab Apple's base we had a delicious BBQ lunch, and enjoyed watching the photo slideshow. Our pictures from the day were priceless... we had to purchase them!

Thank you Crab Apple for a great day. I will definitely be returning for another trip before the end of the summer!

I can't stop raving about our Crabapple Whitewater adventure. We went on a "non guaranteed" day which made me a little nervous, but everything was perfect. Aside from the extremely competent and safety focused rafting experience, the customer service was OUTSTANDING! After the safety demos, we met our groups and guide and loaded up for lunch. Our guide Ben S. shared lunch with us and got to know a little about us. Made it feel very personal. Had a great time rafting even when our very timid daughter fell in unexpectedly. No problem, though. Ben patiently smoothed everything over and we got back on the way. Even got a follow up postcard from Ben!
