And in the afternoon they go out to the Gulf of Mexico to feed, and yes,they make this trip every day. At Bayview you can walk out onto the dock, or even float along in our boats, to get a real close view of the Manatee (often within a few feet of this rare & endangered species)! There are only approximately 2000 of these gentle creatures left in all of Florida, with 300 to 400 Manatee in and around Pine Island.
