Activity/Tour

We travel in new 15 passenger vans, which are customized to go off the beaten path and carry our provisions. As a rule, tour itineraries focus on exploring parks; we often stay in parks for several days at a time. Hikes vary in length from one hour to a full day and are generally rated as easy. During the tour, our driver/leaders organize 'adventure sampling' activities by helping to connect travellers with optional activities such as river rafting, ice walking, whale watching, horseback riding and more. Groups average 12 people per vehicle.

Typical Day

A typical day on a camping tour could involve preparation of breakfast by the group, followed by an overview by the tour leader/driver of plans for the day. These activities could involve a morning hike, a horseback ride to an alpine meadow, or packing up to drive to the next area. Once on the road, we may look for wildlife, explore an old road, or stop by a river for a picnic lunch. Those who choose not to hike may prefer to lounge by the campfire with a good book, or be dropped off in town (if a town is available!).

Age range, type of group

Our travellers are singles and couples, generally international in origin and of average fitness. Ages range from mid-twenties to the early fifties.

Sleeping and meals

Accommodation is based on shared occupancy for lodges and tents. If you are travelling alone, we will attempt to match you with a room or tentmate of the same sex.Meals are not included in the price. On all camping tours, meals are cooperatively organized. Travellers contribute $12 per day to a food kitty at the beginning of the tour. We welcome vegetarians.

Policies & Restrictions

The physical demand on the traveller varies with the tour, from easy to moderate. Travellers are responsible for ensuring that their health is up to the demands of small group travel. Please talk to Midnight Sun staff if you have questions about the tour you have selected.Smoking is not permitted in the vehicle.
