At Katie's Wekiva River Landing You will find, as many others have, that this is a refreshing change from the man made world of asphalt and machines. Our canoe livery offers shuttles to various parts of the Wekiva River. These canoe trips range between 6 and 19 miles, all on class one water. The Wekiva is an "OFFICIAL FLORIDA CANOE TRAIL". We also offer overnight excursions and daily rentals as well.
The Wekiva River has been designated by the State of Florida as an "OUTSTANDING WATERWAY" and "AQUATIC PRESERVE". This is not only an opportunity for fun and adventure, but the chance to see the true Florida that Nature intended. In the crystal clear spring water, you will see many varieties of fish swimming about as you paddle down this lovely river. The Wekiva River is also designated as "WILD AND SCENIC". The forest surrounding the river is home to many different kinds of wildlife, including several species which are on the endangered list. The quiet observer will enjoy many sightings of wildlife along the waters edge. A vast array of birds add elegance, and wild flowers add splatters of color throughout a lush understory of ferns. Overhanging tree limbs festooned with Resurrection Ferns create archways that only Mother Nature's artistry could create. The Cypress, and Oak trees laced with Spanish Moss which tower along the river banks are hundreds of years old. This is a subtropical paradise that seems to be frozen in time.

After you settle in and relax, you will have time to decide which of our canoe runs you would like to do first; We offer shuttle service for:
The ST. JOHNS RIVER RUN: These six fabulous miles, from Katie's Landing to Highbanks on the St. Johns River Landing, run through the lower basin of the Wekiva River to the St. Johns River. State owned and protected this area has been designated "Scenic & Wild". Continue on this Route for another six miles where you will arrive at Blue Springs State Park to see the wintering manatees.
The LITTLE WEKIVA RIVER RUN: The first 4.5 miles are on the pristine, primitive Little Wekiva, a narrow, fast flowing, picturesque river. We have the only access to this beautiful water way, making this our most popular trip. The last 4.5 miles are on the Wekiva River, this river is wider and has many islands suitable for a lazy afternoon picnic under huge, Oak and Cypress Trees laced with Spanish Moss.

Visit the true and natural Florida. This 10 mile canoeing adventure winds down 5 miles of the Black Water Creek, an undisturbed area of the Florida State Preserve. Protected from motor boats, this pristine tributary of the Wekiva River offers you the commune with Nature that the early explorers, and native Indians embraced. The wildlife, birds, turtles and tropical foliage, all existing in total harmony, with very little disturbance from their human neighbors. The next leg of your adventure begins as you merge into The Wekiva River where you will reward your constitution with a 5 mile upstream paddle. This eco-adventure is not for the week or the timid but rather for the true adventurer. If you are looking for a great fishing spot this is it! The large mouth Bass that live in this area are just waiting for you to drop your hook into the water. The symphony of nature will be the sound track for this wonderful setting, pack a lunch and enjoy an entire day in this very special place. With advance notice, we will arrange with the State of Florida for you to enjoy a night of wilderness camping along the banks of this pristine waterway.
The ROCK SPRINGS RUN: The first 9 ½ miles of this adventure takes you down river from Rock Springs Run, a winding waterway through a subtropical forest. You will enjoy the crystal clarity of the water, and the abundance of wildlife. Bring your snorkling gear and get a closer look at the underwater life, or just jump in and enjoy the cool refreshing 72 degree water. If you are a diver, bring your tanks, many prehistoric fossils have been found deep in these springs. If this is what you are interested in, arrangements can be made for an over night camp out at a primitive campsite along the river banks. To finish this run you will merge into the Wekiva River and do another 9 1/2 miles down river paddle back to the landing.
At the end of each day, relax on the deck of your cabin and watch the magnificent sunset. Put some steaks on the grill or fry up the catch of the day, the fishing in this area is great!

Age range, type of group

Everyone is welcome, and everyone will enjoy this eco-adventure.
15 and under must bring an adult with them.
Groups of up to 150 for canoeing are easily accommodated.
Log cabin space is limited and very popular so reserve early.
Groups of up to 40 are easily accommodated for camping facilities.

Sleeping and meals

Here at the Landing we have cozy, fully furnished log cabin rentals as well as a full hookup RV resort and campground. A small country store and a fabulous view.
Resturants and grocery stores are within in five miles of the landing.

Restrictions

Pets are allowed on the campground and in the canoes but must be kept on a leash, and under control. Sorry they are not allowed in the log cabins.
Smoking is permitted on the grounds but not in the log cabins, or other buildings.
Children must have adult supervision at all times.

Rates & Availability

Our canoeing adventures range from $14.50 to $29.50
Campsites are $20.00 per night for two people. $2.00 each additional person or pet. Buy 6 nights and get the 7th one free.
Monthly rates are avalible. Campers will receive a 20% discount on all canoe rentals and shuttle services.
Log cabins are $60.00 per night for two people. $10.00 each additional person. Log cabin guests will have the use of a canoe at no charge and will receive 20% off of the shuttle service.

We are only 20 miles from downtown Orlando, 25 miles from Walt Disney World and 2 miles from Florida State Hiking Trails and Rock Springs Riding Stables. The beautiful beaches of Florida's East Coast are only 30 min. away
