Within 30 miles of Hexham, Penrith and the Lake District. Many local walks. This land has been mined for centuries but is now returning to nature. On the C2C and Pennine Way. Gorgeous and unspoiled. Pub and shop/post office across the road. Alston, an historic market town, is 3 3/4 miles away. Wonderful area for walking, cycling, bird watching, horse riding or just getting away from it all. Extremely peaceful and lovely village.

Converted 17th century farmhouse. The guest rooms are spacious and all are ensuite (with shower) Two rooms have one double and one single bed, and one room has two twin beds. We offer colour TV and hospitality tray. A guest lounge with TV/DVD/HiFi also offers many books on the area and local tourist information. American host.

Directions
Alston is signposted from Hexham. A69 to Hexham, follow A686 route to Alston. Turn left and go up Alston main road and out of town. Signposted to Garrigill. In Garrigill, past George & Dragon Pub to T junction, Straight across to Ivy House. (big sign) park on opposite side of road in front of St. John's Church.

From Penrith, follow signs to Alston. Once past Hartside Top Cafe, few miles look for sign to Thortergill Force/Garrigill on right. Follow to end, take a right and follow into Garrigill village, Ivy House will be on the right. Park in front of St. John's Church.
