Surrounding Area

A large Victorian townhouse built around 1850. Comfortable beds and the best English breakfast you've ever tasted. City centre with easy access by road, rail and bus to the whole of Yorkshire and North East England. Five minutes walk from York Minster which is a designated world heritage site. The minster is one of the most important Cathedrals in Britain. See the newly refurbisheb wing and one of the largest known stained glass windows which was fully repaired and restored after the great fire caused by lightning in the 1980's. There are a multitude of historic, cultural and social events in York all year round to attract most people. There are some major shopping areas too. The town centre has street after street of quaint, old fashioned shops in narrow cobbled ways. There are two out of town shopping complexes which cater for consumer shopping. The Macarthur Glen designer Outlet on the southern edge of the city hosts a large number of designer label shops.

Accommodations

A large Victorian townhouse built in the distinctive brick and tile construction favoured in York in the 1850's. A four storey building in a terrace of eight similar buildings which themselves form part of a typical street of the mid victorian era. This house would typically have belonged to a member of the wealthy business community. Who knows, Guy Fawkes may have walked past this house He was born just around the corner, in Bootham. Other famous residents of this area include Joseph Rowntree. It is known that there was a large Roman Garrison in this area and there is ample evidence of this in the archeological exhibitions nearby.
