ROW offers rafting and canoeing adventures in Idaho and Montana. With 30 years of experience and the most rivers of any Idaho outfitter, ROW offers trips from wild to mild. We offer trips from 1 to 6 days in length on the famous rivers of Idaho and Montana. From the Middle Fork of the Salmon, to the Snake in Hell's Canyon, to the heart stopping class IV Lochsa, to the Family Magic trips on the Salmon River Canyons, ROW offers a trip for everyone. We also offer canoeing trips along the route of the Corps of Discovery and the Lewis and Clark Trail on the Missouri River. Several guest interpreters accompany these trips to teach about the history of the region. They are authors and historians with a yearn to spread knowledge. ROW also offers Yachting Adventures in Turkey, Greece and Croatia, barging in France, multi sport adventures in the Galapagos and Rafting in Ecuador on the headwaters of the Amazon

Typical Day

As the night gives way to the morning light, you will be woken to a hearty breakfast with your hot beverage of choice. After breakfast we break camp and float down river challenging the rapids of the day. We stop for a nutritious lunch, perhaps exploring a nearby abandoned homestead or a cave with ancient pictographs painted on the walls before the earliest Europeans stepped foot on the North American continent. After lunch, we continue on down river, splashing through more waves to our camp. The camp boat has gone ahead to set up our tents so all that is left to do is read a book, nap or fish the river bank. After hours d'ovres and a glance to the setting sun, we enjoy a hot meal amount new friends on the bank of the river. After dinner your guides clean up while you relax by a crackling campfire. Relax and enjoy the peace. It is only day 1.

Age range, type of group

ROW offers trips for people of all ages and ability levels. For those with a thirst for adventure, the heart stopping Lochsa River offers adrenaline by day and peaceful river side camping on ROW's private island at night. For those interested in the Lewis and Clark Expedition, our Missouri River trips offer a combination of historical experience and adventure. One of our favorite trips is the Family Magic Trip on the Salmon River Canyons. These trips are designed for families of all ages. From 5 to 85, the Salmon River Canyons is a great trip for kids, parents and grandparents. The Middle Fork of the Salmon offers 6 days of class IV whitewater coupled with great fishing and spectacular scenery. The Bruneau and Owyhee rivers offer solitude and desert wildflowers. For those looking for a cultural experience, try our Ecuador, Greece, Turkey or Croatian trips.

Sleeping and meals

All our river trips offer luxury, safari style camping, where permitted. Each day our cargo boat goes ahead of the trip to set up our tents and camp. When we arrive after a day of frolicking in the waves and exploring the river canyons, we can enjoy time in camp with out having to set up tents and pack around heavy gear. Your guides take care of all that. Tents, sleeping bags and thick sleeping pads are included in the price of the trips. The guides are not only talented boatmen and women, but also skilled cooks, story tellers and gamesmen. While part of the crew makes a scrumptious dinner, the others are free to go on a hike with you, help you hook a fish or spin a yarn under the shade of a tree. On our European adventures, accommodations and meals are aboard our yachts and boats, plush hotels and quaint local eateries.
