Adventure travel to Central and South America
Description of Activity/Tour
On this comprehensive tour of Brazil, you will experience the legend of Rio de Janeiro, witness the natural phenomena of Iguaçµ Falls, cruise the Amazon River and top it off on the world-class beaches of Bahia. Moderate activity. No special skills needed.
Typical Day
After an early breakfast you'll head out for a guided hike through one of the most biologically diverse rainforests in the world, accompanied by your local guide. The surrounding jungle is home to abundant species of birds, mammals and reptiles, as well as many species of plants including orchids, bromeliads and palms. You will learn about the complex ecosystems at work here.
Returning to the boat, you'll have time for a refreshing swim before lunch, which is served on board while sailing to Samauma Island, located in the Anavilhanas Archipelago, the largest river archipelago in the world. In the afternoon you'll explore the islands, lakes and lagoons in search of wildlife, and in the evening you'll enjoy dinner served on board. After dinner, head out in small motorized canoes to experience the nighttime sounds of the Amazon rainforest and perhaps to spot caiman lurking in the dark waters of the Rio Negro.
