Description of Activity/Tour

Choose from among the Selkirk Mountains (Battle Range, Lardeau Range) and Monashee Mountains. Tours range from "soft" adventure including mild hiking and nature study, to serious mountaineering. In our licensed heli-hiking areas are 34 mountains over 9,000 feet and 8 over 10,000 feet with many glaciers, long ridges at treeline, and little jewel lakes surrounded by wildflower meadows. Fly in by helicopter to base camp. Stay there for your tour, take overnight trips, or arrange point to point tours where the route follows long alpine ridges with mild light climbine.

Typical Day

The guide wakes you up with coffee or tea, a wash basin full of hot water and the smells of a hearty breakfast mingled with the spicy scents of alpine wildflowers. Hike up to a nearby pass for the views of glacier-clad mountain ranges marching to the horizon. Glass for mountain goats, caribou. Identify wildflowers and alpine birds. Have lunch in a meadow beside a gurgline brook. Circle back towards camp through a cluster of lakes, some still with ice in August. At camp, shower while the guides makes supper featuring British Columbia's best salmon, fruit and wine. Sip the world's best ice wine by an open fire. At night, snuggled in your sleeping bag in a mountain tent, you may hear wolves howl.

Age range, type of group

All ages and level of fitness can be accommodated, but our camps are not wheel-chair accessible. Families are welcome. Couples may like our romance tour: the guide pours the liqueur, leaves a chocolate mint on your pillow and gets the heck out of there. All woman tours are avaliable.

Sleeping and meals

Base camps are sleeping tents for the guests and guides, a cook/dining tent (which, however, is rarely used in favour of cooking and eating under an open tarp with a camp fire cheering up one corner). There is a camp shower and latrine. The base camp is transportable: airlifted in at the start of the season and out at the end, or sooner if need be, leaving no mark on the land. "Fly" camps, for guests wishing more of an adventure, are typical backpacking fare: more Spartan food and equipment and the true feeling of freedom on your own in the wilderness, under the care of fully certified guides.

Prices range from $1089.00 Canadian per person for 3 nights, $1,279.00/person for 4 nights, $1,469/person for 7 nights and $3,069.00/person for 14 nights. In US dollars, these are approximately $726.00 per person for 3 nights, $853.00/person for 4 nights, $1,009/person for 7 nights and $2,046.00/person for 14 nights.
