Active Adventure

California whitewater rafting with WET River Trips on Class 3 - 5 rivers throughout Central and Northern California. W.E.T. is permitted by the US Forest Service, US Bureau of Land Management, California State Parks & El Dorado County. Guided whitewater trips by professional guides since 1978. American River, South Fork American, Middle Fork American, North Fork American and Klamath River.

Typical Day

SOUTH FORK AMERICAN, we meet in Coloma/Lotus valley just one hour southwest of Tahoe or 3 hours north east from San Francisco. WET River Trips starts the South Fork American, a class 3+ whitewater trip, at Chili Bar just outside of Placerville, California. Expert guides navigate rapids called "Meatgrinder," "Triple Threat," & the infamous, "Troublemaker Rapid!" This first 10.5 mile stretch is adjacent to historical features such as Coloma State Park. The Gorge section is an 11-mile stretch through a beautiful & scenic canyon where non-stop class 3+ whitewater rapids challenges the beginner or novice and provides unforgettable California adventure! All meals are provided and camping is available.

MIDDLE FORK AMERICAN is a class 4 river for athletic novices or experienced rafters. This equally popular river is located just outside of Auburn, California and is set in a CA State Parks wilderness area. 1-day, 2-day or 3-day wilderness trips are available on this beautiful river trip. All gear is included with your trip packages on this wilderness river.

NORTH FORK AMERICAN is our most popular Class 4+ whitewater trip we offer! Please be 16 years and up with experience on Class 3+ rivers. We need experienced rafters on this trip.

KLAMATH RIVER is ideal for larger youth groups such as the Scouts. W.E.T. has 3-days to 6-days on the longest undammed river in the Western USA. Paddle rafts and sit-on-tops are included on this rafting trip. We recommend the 5-day package for any Scout attempting the whitewater merit badge.

Other rivers are available but are designed for more experienced whitewater rafters. Call for information or see our website!

Age range, type of group

On Class 3 rivers, W.E.T. recommends that your group is healthy, active and spirited. Minimum age is 8 years old and 12 years old during high flows. Family trips, company picnics and novices are popular on the South Fork American. Special rates are available for youth groups, scouts and other non-profit organizations.

For Class 4 rivers we recommend that you are athletic and active with a minimum age of 12 years old. For Class 5 rivers, we recommend experienced, athletic river users with a minimum age of 18 years old. Call our office or send us an email if you have any questions regarding your abilities.

Sleeping and meals

Camping is the ultimate arrangement for whitewater trips. Under the stars and moon, W.E.T. provides an experience with modern facilities, running hot showers and miscellaneous sundries at the camp store. For those of you who need more amenities, W.E.T. recommends cabins, Bed & Breakfasts lodging or one of the local hotel/motels in the area. WET River Trips provides all meals on our whitewater trips. Our website has a complete menu listed and W.E.T. asks you to let us know about any special dietary requirements for your group.

Restrictions

Please leave home your pets, guns, radios and sad spirits! Please bring your smile and good nature. Our staff will treat you with the utmost respect and provide you with lasting warm memories of adventure, friends and memories! And of course, no alcohol is allowed on the rafts during the day.
