Active Adventure

We have canoeing and kayaking for beginners with flat water to the more adventurous with beginner whitewater--a few rapids with one class 2. Our tubing is 'the best tube float for the best price' on the Shenandoah! While our rafting is more like a 'big float'--like tubing with 5 of your best friends in the same tube.

Plan to bring your lunch and drinks, your fishing pole and maybe your dog if you are canoeing.
(no dogs on tubes or rafts).

We also have a tent campground behind out Outfitters.We have 9 log cabins too.

Typical Day

For canoeing and kayaking, folks like to get an early start for the river--we open at 8 AM and most are out on the river by 10 AM. For tubing, these folks start arriving by 10 AM and get out on the River at the 10:30 departure or the Noon departure.

They all go enjoy the river for 3 to 5 hours with swimming, picnicking, fishing, relaxing along the way.
We meet them at the designated River landing and bring them back to the Outfitters. There they can shower if they want before going home or camping with us.

Age range, type of group

We welcome all ages though weather and river conditions might keep the smallest off the river. Do call if you have ones younger than 6 to see what they can do on the river. Rafts work out well for the young ones usually.

Sleeping and meals

Our campground--Camp OutBack--is a tent campground. We have tables and fire rings & grills at each site. We have a shower house with hot water.
Most of our sites are large enough for 10 people/5 tents. Do make reservations well in advance.

Our cabins are in sets of 3 --3 sets--along the river. Each cabin has 3 beds for up to 6 people.

Restrictions

We allow pets in the campground. The cabins have a $15/pet/night fee. Dogs can go in the canoes but not in the tubes or rafts.

No smoking in cabins or Outfitter store.
