The Hichborn Inn is ideally located on the West shore of Penobscot Bay, between Camden and Acadia National Park. Bangor International Airport is approximately a 30 minute drive to the North. The Inn is on a quiet side street in a small town, yet is very convenient to US Route 1. Several State Parks are nearby, including Fort Point Lighthouse and State Park, which is located here in Stockton Springs.
The Inn is a stately Italianate-style Victorian home, built c 1850, and remains essentially unchanged. The house was built by prominent shipbuilder N.G. Hichborn and his wife Caroline. Public rooms include: a music room with grand piano, a gentleman's parlor with fireplace, an elegantly restored dining room and a spacious sunporch/breakfast room.
Four guest rooms feature period Victorian furnishings. Two rooms feature double-size beds, private baths and distant harbor views. The remaining two rooms feature either a double bed or two twin beds, and share bathroom facilities.
From the South: Take US Route 1&3 North from Searsport, turn right onto Main Street in Stockton Springs, follow Main Street approximately 1/2 mile. Turn left onto Church Street; the Inn is the second building on the left. From the North (Bangor): Take US Route 1A South, turn right onto off-ramp in Stockton Springs, just before the intersection with US Route 1. At top of off-ramp, turn left onto Church Street. Continue on Church Street - the Inn is the third building past the church on the right. From Down East (Bucksport): Turn left onto Main Street in Stockton Springs. Follow Main Street approximately 1/2 mile. Turn right onto Church Street; the Inn is the second building on the left.
