This Cotswolds home, offering bed and breakfast is set alongside the village church in the small hamlet of Filkins, just five miles from the historic wool market town of Burford. The Cotswolds is an area of outstanding natural beauty with rolling hills and babbeling trout streams flowing through the towns and villages unchanged by the passin years since the 16th century. All the building are constructed of the mellow yellow - buff sandstone which gives the area a glow, especially at sunset. This really is "Chocolte-box" country which has to be toured at a liesurly pace, no rush - no worries. It is though only 90 minutes from London Heathrow airport and London itself. The historic cities of Oxford, Blenhiem Palace, Stratford upon Avon, Warwick (with its medeval castle), Burford, Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold, Cirencester and many other interesting places all within easy reach.
The house is built in the early 17th century of local mellow Cotswold stone, originally as a farmhouse with adjoining cottages, they have all been carefully linked to form an interesting retreat from the modern world. There are twisting stairs, inglenook fireplaces, beamed ceilings and a host of interesting details. The typical English Cottage Garden is a riot of colour in the Spring/Summer and ideal for resting after a hard days sight seeing.
The three bedrooms al have en-suite facilities with either bath and/or shower plus the other usual amenities. Two of the rooms have double beds, one a King size, whilst the other has twin single beds.
Whilst a full English cooked breakfast is included, there are two village pubs serving evening meals, one with an a-la-carte restraurant, within tree minutes walk of the house. Nearby Burford and Lechlade offer a greater veriety, including Indian, Chinese and local cuisine (plus Fish & Chips!)
Filkins is off the A361 five miles soth of Burford which is on the A40 between Cheltenham Spa and Oxford. Oxford is some 70 miles from London off the M40/A40 roads.
