This beautiful, all suite resort is a 32-room small boutique hotel occupying unique beach front property in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste. This rustic, charming "Hemingway Type" hotel offers: bar - restaurant, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, lush tropical gardens with hammocks, laundry service and gated parking area. There is a scuba diving shop on-site and Bill Beard's operates daily adventure tours from the hotel. Our 20 standard rooms with private bathroom, hot water, two double beds or one double and a single, air conditioning, cable TV plus the 12 new deluxe suites including also refrigerator, coffee maker, 2 queen size beds and a sitting area. Located in Playa Hermosa, only 20 minutes away from Liberia International Airport - LIR - or 4 hours from San José, the all suite beach resort hotel is the perfect place to experience the wonders of a dream beach holiday in the sunny Guanacaste. Our hotel is a perfect mix of gardens, ancestral trees, clear ocean and a beautiful soft sand beach, that together make the great Costa Rica experience, framed by a personalized service filling the spirit with tranquility and a free sense of peace, as the surf concert will relax your body and soul, while monkeys and iguanas play by the numerous trees. The mission of making each guest feel they have arrived to their own beach house is reflected in our bar-restaurant, offering the best of Costa Rican and international food, carefully prepared and served by the friendly staff, who gladly will take any request to make you feel at home all times. The beach and surf view from small quaint restaurant with a laid-back atmosphere are excellent backgrounds to leave any worries behind and enjoy a truly vacation by the sea.
Accommodations
Tilajari, like most Arenal Costa Rica hotels, offers canopy tours. However, our adventure tour begins with a horseback ride of approximately 40 minutes, or a tractor ride. We continue with a short walk through the primary forest where a Costa Rican guide will explain the flora and fauna that prevail in the rainforest.
Sometimes it is possible to see and appreciate several types animals at the same time - monkeys, guatuzas, snakes and a great variety of birds. There are nine platforms located on the three species of trees. All platforms are specially designed for the observation of the life in the top of the trees.
Rooms/Suites
Less than 30 minutes away from the Tilajari Resort Hotel is Costa Rica's majestic Arenal Volcano, considered to be one of the most active volcanoes in the world. This nature tour departs at 4 pm and takes you through a variety of agricultural plantations including passion fruit, cassava, papaya, orange, cacao and ornamental plants. Once you get to Arenal 1968 Volcano View and Lava trails, the sensation it's simply a breathtaking to see glowing hot rocks tumbling down the side combined with thundering explosions, a truly spectacular sight. Upon returning to the hot springs you will have the opportunity to soak in these natural hot medicinal waters for over an hour to relax body and soul surrounded by the forest. This nature tour returns to Tilajari at approximately 8:30 pm, just in time for dinner. Tour includes: transportation, entrance fees and bilingual guide.

Bill Beard is the true pioneer of scuba diving in Costa Rica. On his first trip to Costa Rica, there were no scuba tanks in the country. In 1970, Bill brought tanks with him on his next trip, got them filled at Miller Gas, and started diving in Costa Rica from dug out canoes. He was the first working instructor and had the first professional dive shop in the country located in San Jose. Bill is a Platinum Pro 5000 Diver and has been elected to the International Legends Of Diving Hall Of Fame..
In 1974, Bill Beard branched out by opening a beach location in Playas del Coco on the Pacific Ocean and operated daily dive trips from there and Playa Hermosa. Bill has many firsts to his credit, including bringing scuba diving and adventure tours to Guanacaste.
In 1988, Bill and his wife Nadine formed an association and were the first to combine scuba diving and adventure tour packages. Bill and Nadine are multi-agency scuba diving instructors. They are both Platinum Pro 5000 Divers and have been elected to the "International Legends Of Diving"
