Cape May, NJ, is a National Historic Landmark city, with an abundance of Victorian architectural gems. The beautiful white sand beaches of the Shore are an equal attraction. Fine restaurants, shops, and antiques, as well as outstanding bird watching, provide plenty to do!
Accommodations
Comfortable elegance awaits at The Mooring, one of Cape May's only bed & breakfast inns originally built as a guest house, way back in 1882. The classic Second Empire inn is a 3-story Mansard, featuring wide porches on the first and second stories, a magnificent entrance hall with soaring spiral staircase, and generously sized rooms. Bask in the sunlight filtering through the tall French doors in our 12-foot ceilinged parlor. Linger over a bountiful breakfast at tables for two in the handsome dining room. Or just enjoy the ocean breezes from the porch rockers!
Rooms/Suites
Twelve uncluttered guest rooms, each with private bath, period furnishings, ceiling fan, and air conditioning (in season). All rooms are individually decorated and furnished, each with its own style. Two rooms have exclusive access to the second floor porch, queen-size beds, and modern baths with shower. One "honeymoon" suite is available, with private entrance, queen bed, private bath with gilded clawfoot tub, and separate kitchen. Two rooms have two beds (double and twin), and can accommodate three people.
Services Offered
A full breakfast and afternoon tea are included. Breakfast is served buffet-style in our large dining room, with individual tables for two. Complimentary chamber service is provided daily.
Policies & Restrictions
This is a non-smoking inn; we do permit smoking on the porches, however. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed. Children five years and over are welcome. We can sometimes accommodate younger children if a first floor room is available; please inquire.
Rates & Availability
Rates vary by season, lowest spring and fall weekdays, highest summer and holiday weekends. Midweek rates are always discounted, even in summer! Rates range from $75 per night (double occupancy) to $185 per night (double occupancy). Third person charge is $25/night. Weekends require a minimum stay, three or four nights summer and holidays, two nights the remainder; please inquire about specific dates.
The Mooring is open from April through New Year's Day.
Please phone for reservations (609-884-5425). A 50% deposit is required to secure a reservation of two or more nights (if booking a single night, payment in full serves as the deposit). Deposits are due within 7 days of booking, and checks are preferred if booking three weeks or more in advance. VISA and MasterCard are also accepted. New Jersey Sales Tax (6%) is added to all rates.
Other Information
Since we deal almost exclusively with advance reservations, we require a 2-week notice of any change in your reservation (cancellation, shortening of your stay, or change of dates) in order to guarantee a deposit refund. Without this notice, refunds are made only if we are able to re-book your room for the entire period of time you had reserved it. A $20 service charge applies in either case.
