Century old Queen Anne Victorian restored to it's original charm. Features magnificent views of island studded Penobscot Bay, spacious rooms, fireplaces, and many thoughtful amenities. Seven guest rooms ranging from $95 - $205 per night.
Nestled between the mountains and the sea, the Camden area offers a wealth of unique and beautiful attractions. A hike or drive to the top of Mt. Battie for a breathtaking view of three harbors and numerous islands is something we highly recommend. Penobscot Bay is known as one of the top sailing destinations in the world and is home to the largest fleet of tall masted ships. For our guests who would like to sample life at sea, we suggest starting with a two hour cruise aboard one of the many Schooners departing regularly from Camden Harbor. Camden itself is a charming New England Village with many quaint shops and wonderful restaurants. Nearby Lincolnville is known for it's Maine craftsmen and artists, as well as it's sandy beach and restaurants featuring fresh lobster dinners. To our North and South, art galleries, maritime museums and antique shops abound.
The Victorian by the Sea is an 1881 Queen Anne style Victorian originally built as a summer "cottage". It features seven guest rooms, all with their own personalities. Upon entering the inn, you will find yourself in the "living hall" or foyer with it's high ceiling and welcoming fireplace. In our Piano Room, guests may enjoy music from our Baby Grand as well as the glow of a candlelit fireplace. In our Sitting Room, guests often gather in the evening to warm themselves by the fire, or before breakfast to peruse the daily breakfast menu. Breakfast is served in our glass enclosed Sunroom overlooking Penobscot Bay or on our wide wrap-around verandah overlooking the gardens and the Bay. The white wicker chairs invite you to stop for an afternoon chat with other guests or to sit down with a good book.
The inn's rooms are all very different from one another, yet they all have queen size beds and private baths. Our two suites feature private sitting areas with fireplaces and spectacular views of the water, as well as antique clawfoot soaking tubs and showers. Most rooms have fireplaces and waterviews.
We offer our guests the use of a Butler's Pantry with refrigerator and microwave. In the late afternoon and evening, homebaked desserts such as Hot Apple Crisp, Maine Wild Blueberry Pie, or Chocolate Chip Cookies are placed in the Pantry for our guests. All rooms have fluffy robes for use during your stay, exquisite Swiss Chocolates, luxurious toiletries, hairdryers, and in-room phones.
Your hosts will be happy to assist you in aquiring any reservations (dinner, schooner, bike rental, kayak tours, etc.) you may require, as well as directions to attractions.
From the center of Camden: Continue north on Rt. 1 towards Lincolnville. We are 2.5 miles north of Camden Hills State Park. Turn left towards the water on Seaview Drive. Proceed 800 feet to inn.
