Surrounding Area
Moab is located in the heart of Utah's Canyonlands which embraces mountains, red rock and rivers creating one of the most unique places on earth. Located entirely within the geological area known as the Colorado Plateau, a high desert by definition, water is the main force behind the unusual rock formations and mysterious canyons found here. Canyonlands is home to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, Dead Horse Point State Park, Natural Bridges and Hovenweep National Monuments, a section of the Manti-La Sal National Forest, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Monument Valley Tribal Park. For mountain bikers this is mecca. Whitewater rafters come to float the Colorado and Green Rivers. Hikers and four-wheelers explore the fascinating multi-hued desert landscape.
