This four star boutique hotel lies on a peaceful cobbled street, overlooking tranquil gardens and just a few minutes walk from the city centre and its many historic sites and art galleries. Shopping expeditions, sight-seeing and theatre shows are among many of the attractions close by. Several rooms offer breath-taking panoramic views of Edinburgh to the hills of Fife and beyond.
Considerable flair and thought has gone into creating Channings, a stylish transformation of five Edwardian townhouses, which has had many of its original features restored. With restful firelit lounges and its renowned character and charm, Channings offers a cosy relaxed ambience, reminicent of a country house hotel in town. Channings has been designed to meet today's needs, with forty-six individually designed en-suite bedrooms.
An eclectic mix of antique and modern furniture combined with wonderful textured fabrics are features of our new Garden 'Club Rooms'. Striking rooms have been created that are also elegant, tailored and classic - all set against a calm neutral background.
Our newly transformed upper-floor rooms, which overlook our terraced gardens, offer rich enveloping comfort. An atmosphere of calm has been achieved by using textures and simple design comprising deep, rich colours and a combination of materials such as linen, silk, suede and velvet.
A touch of checked and floral pattern compliments this contemporary style and creates a natural link to our upper-floor rooms overlooking the Firth of Forth and on to Fife.
The warm and richly coloured Restaurant (with 2 AA rosettes) is in direct contrast with our contemporary, simple and uncluttered Wine Bar and Conservatory. The menu has been imaginatively created merging Scottish and European cooking with modern influences and is as stimulating as its surroundings.
Channings is the perfect venue for private gatherings and small corporate lunches, dinners, meetings and seminars, which may be held in one of several rooms including the Kingsleigh Suite, the oak-panelled Library, and the light and airy Conservatory.
