Description of Activity/Tour

Located near San Pedro, a safe and quiet suburb of San Jose, the Institute provides excellent personalised tuition by highly educated and professional staff in a friendly atmosphere.

General Description:
Every year, students of all ages (16-75 years), and from many countries and professions, attend Eurolingua's numerous language, cultural, special interest and summer programmes worldwide. Students include private individuals, mature teenagers, university and MBA students, teachers, doctors, professional and business people, corporate executives, diplomats and embassy staff, government employees, military personnel and retired people.

One-to-One Homestays (16-75 years):
Live and study abroad for 1 to 4 weeks, on a full-board basis, in the private family residence of a Eurolingua tutor. You benefit from intensive one-to-one, professional language tuition, enjoy local excursions and share usual family social, cultural and leisure activities. Total immersion in the language, culture and way of life is guaranteed. We collect you at and return you to the nearest airport or railway station. Programmes are available all year.

Group Programmes (16-75 years):
You benefit from a minimum of 15 hours (20 lessons) per week tuition in small friendly groups at one of our Institutes, with cultural visits and leisure activities. In order to maintain linguistic and cultural continuity, accommodation is with a selected, local host family. Studio apartments are also available. Open all year, with and special programmes during the summer.

The Eurolingua Institute teaches 9 languages in 29 countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom, USA and Venezuela.

Typical Day

We offer intensive group tuition, one-to-one tuition or a combination of both. In addition, our unique Beach and Rainforest Programme is held in Manuel Antonio National Park on the Southern Pacific coast.

Cultural Activities
We offer Latin dancing lessons every week, talks on Costa Rican history and culture, and visits to other towns and places of interest. In addition, we organise dinners from the countries represented in the school, including, of course, a Costa Rican dinner. It is a very interesting cultural experience for everybidy, teachers, students and host families alike.

Sleeping and meals

In order to maintain linguistic continuity, students are placed with a Costa Rican family. Students have a private room, keys to the house, breakfast, dinner and laundry service. Usually, we place only one student per family.

Other Information

The Beach and Rainforest Programme
Classes are held in Manuel Antonio National Park which includes one of the best beaches on Costa Rica?s Pacific coast for swimming and snorkeling. The park is also wonderful for short walks or full-day hikes. Classes are from Monday to Friday and can be either in the morning or afternoon. In Manuel Antonio National Park there is a rare natural land formation called a tombolo which is the most perfect in the world. A tombolo is a strip of land made of sand that joins a former island to the shore. It takes thousands of years for a tombolo to form. This park is a combination of rain forest, beautiful white sand beaches abounding in flora and fauna, and great views. You can see howler, squirrel, and white-faced monkeys, two-toed sloths, coatimundis, racoons, iguanas, over 350 species of birds, and others. At Manuel Antonio the mountains meet the ocean. It is a paradise!!

Hotel Accommodations: Classes take place at the same facilities where students live and it is located just 300 metres from the beach. There are one-room cabins which are shared by two or three students. These cabins are located within a private reserve with paths to hike. There is a swimming pool. The cabins are equiped with a fan (no air conditioning), a fridge, a hot plate and cooking utensils. Meals are not included in the price.
For those who want to stay in better accommodations, we will make all arrangements at the best available prices. Please, note that the busy season is from December to April. During this time hotel reservations should be made 2 or 3 months in advance. During the rest of the year, hotel prices are between 20-40% cheaper and reservations can be made 4 weeks in advance. Sometimes it is possible to make arrangements with a shorter notice.
