Four Star accommodation. Experience the tranquility of the Margarees on the Cabot Trail, Cape Breton Island. Private accommodations: 2 rooms with ensuite baths, living room, full kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, BBQ and laundry facilities. Starting at
$159 per night
The Margaree, a world famous Salmon River, is a Canadian Heritage River. Our premise is close to the Cape Breton Island's "Fab Four" Golf Courses, the Alexander Graham Bell Museum, Fortress Louisberg, Highland Village and all other Island attractions. Hiking, deep sea fishing, whale watching, fresh and ocean beaches are within minutes and the Highland National Park is an easy drive down the Margaree River "Intervale" and along the coast of the Gulf of St. Lawrence following the Cabot Trail, "Canada's most famous scenic drive!" Sea kayaking and sailing on Bras D'or are within an hours drive.
Formerly a Four Star B&B, with the addition of a full kitchen we have converted our property to a Guest house. We offer unique accommodations in secluded valley 2km off the Cabot Trail. This is a working Trout Farm, (Speckled and Rainbow) with a U-fish. A walk up our 'deer field' on our 'south' mountain gives a stupendous view of the Margaree Valley. Bald Eagles and Ospreys visit our ponds almost daily and the swallows and 'hummers' (hummingbirds), are always in residence. The Guest House can accommodate up to 6 people or, if you don't mind sharing a kitchen, a couple can rent one room.
Several excellent "restaurants with a view" in the area. "The Barn" has the "Three Fiddler Concerts and Ceilidh" Friday nights in June, Sept. and Oct.-Wed. nights in July and August. Dances at S.W. hall on Fridays in summer. Several 'low impact' hiking trails in area and roads for cycling. Four salt water beaches along the coast and numerous 'swimming holes' along the river.
Two rooms each with ensuite 4 piece baths. One room has a queen size bed, the second Twin Beds and double-bed size futon, (can hold 4). The common room downstairs has Satellite TV & VCR or you can just relax, listening to music or reading.Telephone or data port/modem connection available in rooms. A full kitchen is available containing all the normal equipment plus microwave, dishwasher, BBQ. Laundry facilities. We have High Speed Access plus wireless. As well, we offer unlimited 24/7 long distance calling to the US and Canada using our phone.
There is a masseur in the village who will make house calls. Should you wish to fish for Salmon or trout on the Margaree river, (fly fishing only), equipment and guides can be arranged...(guides are NOT required but we do recommend!) Fishing on our property is, of course, allowed and no licensing is required
