Description of Surrounding Area

Corsicana is a small town in North Central Texas and was the birthplace of Country Singer Lefty Frizzell who's life has been chronicled in the Pioneer Village. The Cook Center for Arts, Science and Technology has the largest planetarium in Texas. The Center has over 45,000 Indian artifacts and over 4,000 civil war documents on display. Richland-Chambers Lake is the third largest lake wholly located within the state featuring fishing, boating, water skiing and relaxation. Fishermen catch some of the largest fish in Texas here. The city is the home of Collin Street Bakery and the largest candy factory in the United States, Russel Stover. Shop at the local antique stores or outlet malls in the area. Close to Arlington, Dallas, Fort Worth and Waco with all their sights.

Description of Accommodations

The 6,500 square foot historic Scales-Fortson mansion was built in the 1890's from California Redwood and features a curved walnut staircase imported from France and a century old leaded glass window. Only a short block from the Navarro County Courthouse the house is conveniently located. Tastefully decorated with antiques, the inn offers five beautiful bedrooms in the main house and one in the carriage house. Three bedrooms have gas log fireplaces. All but one features queen-sized beds. All of our bathrooms have showers.

Description of Rooms/Suites

The spacious Powerscourt Suite has a private bath with leaded glass windows, claw foot tub with shower and a large setting area. The Shillelagh Suite has a private bath with shower and sitting area. The Enniskerry Room has a private bath with a large soaking tub and shower. The Glendalough Room is an inviting room to relax and read a good book. The bath, across the hall, features an antique vanity and 6-foot claw foot tub with shower. This is shared with the Avoca Room which offers comfort on a smaller scale with a single bed with a single trundle bed. Our policy is not to rent both rooms at the same time except to prearranged parties. The Sugarloaf is a separate accommodation in the carriage house and offers a full kitchen and living area on the first floor with a extra large bedroom on the second floor. This bedroom has a queen-size and double bed,and can sleep four.

Amenities

The Inn has a computer, printer, fax, scaner and copier available to the guest. The computer is also hooked up to the Internet. Meetings of up to 32 people can be handled in the dining room, and up to 10 in the music room.

Services Offered

A full Irish breakfast is included with the room. Lunch is available Tuesday through Satruday at an additional cost. The Wicklow Inn's chef offers three or five-course candlelight dinners to the public for parties of 8 or more on any evening except Sunday. Reservations are required.

Restrictions

The Wicklow Inn has a strick no smoking policy inside the buildings due to the age of the home and the comfort of our other guests. Smoking is permitted on the front porch and on the grounds. No pets are permitted in the main manison but well behaved, house broken small pets can be accommodated in the carriage house. Guests are responsible for any damage caused by their pet.

Rates are: Avoca $60, Glendalough $75, Enniskerry and Shillelagh $90, Powerscourt $110 and Sugarloaf $125.

Other Information

The Wicklow Inn is approved by the State of Texas as a contract establishment for state employee travel both on business and leasure travel. State or our government ID required for state rate. Travel agent commission of 10% paid upon check out on all bookings except clergy.

Directions

From Dallas take I-45 south to first Corsicana exit (Bus.I-45) continue to third traffic light (West 5th Avanue), turn right and continue to North 14th Street and turn right. House is on the left. From Houston take I-45 north to first Corsicana exit (Bus. I-45) continue over West 7th Avenue overpass to traffic light (West 5th) turn left and follow above directions. From Waco take State Highway 31 east to Corsicana, turn left on North 15th Street. Go three blocks to West 5th Avenue and turn right, go one block and turn left. From Hillsbourgh take State Highway 22 to Corsicana. When Highway 22 turns on to North 15th Street go two blocks and turn left on West 4th Avenue. Inn is on corner of West 4th Avenue and North 14th Street.

Discounts Offered

State of Texas per diem rate for state employee business and leasure travel. Business travelers(10%) Sunday - Thursday night. Clergy (15%). Reservations must be made direct with the Inn by a church or ministry. Travel agent commissions are not paid on Clergy discounts.
