The Twin Lakes area is known to thousands of visitors as a wonderful place to visit. One visitor, William Byers of the Rocky Mountain News, wrote: "The lower lake is nearly four miles in length by one and a half in breath, and it's soft, undulating, quiet shores form a singular contrast to the rugged mountains beyond. A straight, narrow terrace, twenty feet in height a natural dam- separates it from the upper lake, which is a mile and a half in length lying as if it were between the knees of the mountains. A triangular tract of meadowland slopes upward from the farthest end of this lake and is gradually squeezed into a deep, wide cañon, out of which the lake stream issues." During a stay in the Twin Lakes area, visitors can enjoy both summer and winter activities. Summer activities include: hiking, boating, fishing, rafting, bicycling, jogging, mountain climbing, repelling, and camping. Golf, tennis courts, swimming pools, hot springs, and shopping are only a short drive away. Winter activities include: cross-country skiing, ice fishing, snowshoeing, ice-skating, sledding, snowmobiling, and alpine skiing. A natural hot spring, and recreation center with indoor swimming pool are close by.

Rooms/Suites

Each room at Ores & Mine is named after a well known local gold or silver mine. All rooms include a private bath, stocked with shampoo, conditioner and soaps. Access to: Little Jonny, Dolly B, and the Champion Suite involves seven steps. The "Matchless" features one King Bed and a private bath with claw foot tub and shower. This room also has a view that overlooks Twin Lakes and the surrounding mountains. Rental Rates: (based on single or double occupancy price/night) $138.00.The "Doris" features a queen bed and large windows with great views.The "Dolly B" features two full size beds.The "Little Johnny" features a queen bed.The "Champion" is a two bedroom room suite. The main room has two queen beds with two sitting area. Private Bath and Private Patio.

Ores & Mine has many amenities, the recreation room has a rock fireplace and is perfect for those who enjoy a fire while chatting with friends or just relaxing with a cup of hot chocolate. There is a bottomless cookie jar and assorted teas, coffee and cocoas. This room also features: Pool Table PingPong Table Shuffle Board, Juke Box (Rock-ola) Multi Board Games. and Reading material. Guests enjoy a breakfast in the dining area each moring. breakfast includes fresh coffee and teas, entrée, fruit, delicious pastries and meats. Each day a different breakfast is served. We make every effort to accommodate special dietary needs. Breakfast at Ores & Mine is a real treat sure to satisfy the most discriminating appetite. The Ambience of the Hot Tub is beckoning you! Relax and enjoy our private hot tub overlooking Twin Lakes. It features a multitude of jets and sits just off our deck - a perfect place to soak and unwind after a day of hiking. Hot tub is CLOSED for the winter. Ores & Mine offers privacy and a carefree atmosphere where you can enjoy your vacation on your own schedule. The sense of quiet and peace of this mountain environment is relaxation at its best.

We have access to many activities for both summer and winter.Just ask. We will do our best to meet you activity need, or just relax and rock away in the families old rocking chair....gazing on the unparalleled views of Colorado's snow-capped majestic mountain, Mt. Elbert (14,431), reflected in the clear blue waters of Colorado's largest glacial lake.

Directions

From Leadville take Highway 24 East (approximately 15 miles). Turn right on Colorado Highway 82 toward Aspen - Twin Lakes.From Buena Vista take Highway 24 West (approximately 19 miles). Turn left on Colorado Highway 82 toward Aspen - Twin Lakes. Drive two miles on Colorado Highway 82 to County Rd. 10. Turn right on County Rd. 10, go a quarter of a mile. The first house on the left is Ore's and Mine.
