Description of Surrounding Area

Hiking trails on the Blue Ridge Parkway, New River State Park, & Mount Jefferson State Park; two Churches of the Frescoes; Christmas tree farms; Tweetsie Railroad & Tangier Outlet Stores at Blowing Rock; Jefferson, West Jefferson, Glendale Springs, NC; Boone, NC; N. Wilkesboro, home of Merlefest; and hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, canoeing, and tubing.

Description of Accommodations

Lodge: Sleeps up to 11 individuals. Dining room seats up to 30 people. Courtyard off the dining room has picnic table, a bathroom, and a portable firepit. Front porch great for relaxing and view surroundings. Tv &VCR or DVD in all rooms except single room.

Five (5) Duplex Cabins: Sleeps up to 25 using a roll away bed in each cabin. Each of 10 units has own porch with two chairs. Benches, picnic tables, and rock fire pits available behind cabins and on lawn near cabins.

No smoking in cabins or lodge, but smoking areas outside with sand cups.

Description of Rooms/Suites

Each Cabin unit has TV, VCR and/or DVD, furnished kitchenette with a 2-burner stove/refrigerator/sink combination, a microwave oven, and drip coffee maker. Drop-Ins-One-Nighters-complementary coffee upon request. Each units has a full bath and a choice of a full bed, queen, or king size bed.

The Lodge has a spacious great room with Direct TV, a large dining room which can double for a meeting room, and a sun room for watching the animals and birds. The loft has a king bed, TV with DVD player, balcony access, a sitting area, and private bath. The queen suite has a queen bed, queen sleeper sofa, two-seater wicker sofa, a fireplace, and two full baths. The family suite has room with queen bed with fireplace, a room with single bed, and a room with a full bed and private shower. The queen bedroom and single bedroom share a full bath.

Amenities

Each of the cabin units has its own full bath, a furnished kitchenettes, coffee maker, & microwave oven. Complimentary coffee if available upon request. Many resturants in nearby Jefferson (8 miles) and West Jefferson (12 miles), and three resturants within 5 miles. Board/card games plus balls and outside games available. Large gas grill & picnic tables available for cook-outs!

Dining room is suitable for groups of 30 to gather for meeting and fellowship.

Services Offered

Internet access within the lodge with a computer available in dining room, Lodge room rates include breakfast. Cabin guest are invited to eat breakfast (when available) for an additional fee and by reservation the previous night. No phones in rooms, but one is available at the office, plus a cell phone. Microwave oven in the dining room available for guest to use. Guest may bring "take-out" dinner meals back and use the dining room.

Restrictions

All facilities are non-smoking indoors. Designated smoking areas have "butt buckets". Pets are welcome to stay in the cabins, but not in the lodge. Pets must be kept on leashes while on the grounds to keep from running after the wild critters. Children of all agres are welcome. High chair and a pack-nplay available at no charge.

Rates & Availability

Cabins range from $79.90/night for a half cabin (1 unit) - $136.90/night for a whole cabin. One-time $20.00 fee per pet with $40.00 maximum..
Lodge suites: $86.90- $104.20 per night depending upon the suite and the amenities provided.
Minimum stays sometime apply to special event times and special holiday times. Otherwise, there is no minimum stay. OPEN ALL YEAR, although sometimes snow prevents easy access.

Discounts: 2-4 night 10%, 5-10 nights - 15%, 11 days -3 weeks - 20%, 4 or more weeks - 25% Except holidays and special event times.

Other Information

Internet (laptop) access available in the lodge. For the musically inclined a digital grand piano. Large selection of movies and DVS for all ages.

See our website for specific directions. Here are some measures:
From N. Wilkesbor, take 16 North to the exit for the blue Ridge Parkway. Turn right (North) and go approximately five (5) miles to Mile Post/Marker 256. Turn right on the first road with a white mailbox with word "LODGING" and a“poor” pig on top. The office is at the Lodge.
