Surrounding Area

We're located in one of the last areas of "real" Hawaii. South Point [Ka Lae] has the distinction of being the southernmost point in the U.S.A. [right down the road from us] and also is the believed landing site if the first Polynesians. In this very area also is Papakolea, a beautiful, unique Green Sand Beach. Just 12 minutes from our door is Punalu`u, a black sand beach where giant Hawksbill Sea turtles come to nest. A 45 min. drive takes you to the land of fire, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We're also just 45 min. from the Place of Refuge. Our central location, 1/2 way between Hilo and Kona makes for easy driving times to island sites.

Accommodations

Situated on over 8 acres of orchard land, in an historic area of Hawaii, our two story red cedar home has 6,300 ft. of living area and 3000 sq. ft of covered lanai [deck]. Combining different architectural styles, with a strong oriental influence, the home has an open, airy feel. Rooms have private entrances, and most have private baths.

from KonaFrom kona Airport turn right onto Hwy. 19. Hwy. 19 will naturally blend intoHwy. 11 [main and only Hwy. going South]. stay on Hwy. 11 all the way. Fromthe airport we’re about a 1 1/4 hr. drive [59 mi.]. At mi. marker 66 startlooking for our sign. We’re 3/ 10 of a mile past marker 66. Our sign is onthe right [ocean] side of the rd. At the corner of Hwy. 11 and Kamaoa Rd.turn right on Kamaoa and we’re down 1/2 mile on the left. You can’t miss us,there’s a second sign right infront of our house.from HiloComing out of Hilo airport turn left onto Hwy. 11 Stay on Hwy. 11 [only Rd.going South] all the way. We’re 1 1/4 hrs. from the airport [60 mi.] At milemarker 65 start looking for our sign. We’re 7/10 of a mile past marker 65.Our sign is on the left [ocean] side of the Rd. Turn left at the sign and we’re down 1/2 mi. on the left. Can’t miss us, there’s a second sign rightinfront of our house.
