We offer you the chance to enjoy New Zealands world renowned scenery while staying with farm hosts who are keen to share their hospitality in their homes by providing dinner, bed and breakfast, and lunch (if required). Hosts who know the countryside you are travelling through and are keen to help you make the most of your vacation. Maybe you want to experience helping milk cows, feeding sheep or a multitude of other farm tasks, we can find the perfect locations for you. Relax and enjoy the peaceful countryside around you or join the farmer while he goes about his work of looking after the sheep and other farm animals. Your farmstay accommodation may be located close to any of New Zealand's major tourist attractions including the Bay of Islands, Waikato, Waitomo Caves, Rotorua, Lake Taupo, Nelson, Christcurch, Queenstown and our many national parks. Our hosts are warm, friendly, and practiced at having guests from all countries of the world and many lasting friendships are formed from just a night or two together.

Description of Accommodations

Our farms are regularly inspected to ensure that your stay will always be comfortable and relaxed. Guests usually stay in the farmers home or alternatively an adjoining cottage nearby but have their meals with the host family providing a genuine insight into New Zealanders life and culture. Farm homes range from fully restored farm homesteads to modern homes built for your ease of enjoyment. Hosts enjoy having you in their home and you are encouraged to relax and soak up the scenery and beauty around you. Many farm homes have fine gardens around them with the farm and scenery beyond providing the backdrop to such.

Description of Rooms/Suites

Different homes have different capacities and bedding layouts so it is a matter of finding one suitable to your particular needs. Most homes offer a choice of either Twin (2 Single beds) or Double rooms (with Double, or Queen, or King sized beds). Separate bathroom facilities are provided for guests and in some cases they are ensuite facilities adjoining the guest's bedroom. The website lists the various room options at each home and the bathroom facilities applying. Some homes provide separate guest relaxation areas but in most cases you are invited to share and enjoy your hosts company.

Amenities

The range of activities on the farm and nearby are listed on the website. While on your holiday you can include activities such as golf, fishing, horse trekking, vineyard tours, whale watching, caving, swimming, bungy jumping, thermal activities, bush walks,etc. but with the added advantage of staying with hosts who really go out of their way to provide the comforts of home and a genuine New Zealand farm experience including sumptuous home cooked meals.

Services Offered

Many farms have their own vegetable gardens providing the very best and freshest produce for your evening meals. Tastes that you remember from childhood and reflections from both hosts and guests provide memorable evenings that are anchored in your memory long after the holiday has finished. Most farms are available all year round subject to other bookings. Your hosts know the area you are travelling through and what it has to offer as most have lived in the area throughout their lives. What better people to help you see the very best that the country has to offer. We suggest that you book in advance as often demand exceeds supply in some of the tourist hot spots. Most farms have some suitable footwear for you to use. Older warm clothes might also be useful if you wish to help around the farms.

Restrictions

Pets are not suitable to take to farms or homes you might be staying in while in New Zealand. We suggest that if you are a smoker that you do so outside the homes you are staying in.

Rates & Availability

The current rate is NZ$115.00 per person per night for Dinner Bed and Breakfast on a twin share basis. If requiring a single room then the rate would be NZ$130.00 per person. This is paid to NZ Farm Holidays and can be done so by Visa, or Mastercard. We require a deposit of NZ$ 75.00 per person to secure bookings. There are surcharges applying to farmstays in the Southern Lakes area of the South Island of $15.00 per person per night

Other Information

To initiate your booking we need the likely dates that you are intending to do a farmstay and the region that you will be travelling through at that time. There is no minimum number of nights you can, or need to stay. Often people stay a couple of nights and then move on but it depends on your itinerary and what you are seeking from your farmstay experience. We confirm the booking back to you and then prior to your arrival we raise a voucher covering your stay, an information sheet about your farmstay, and a sketch map of how to get to the location.

Directions

The maps of how to get to your farmstays including information about the farmstays are delivered to an address in New Zealand prior to your first farmstay. This could be an accommodation stay such as a hotel, motel, car rental company.
