Surrounding Area

Our 11-acre rural retreat is situated in picturesque and peaceful farmland 14 km north west of Taupo and close to many of the region's diverse thermal and scenic attractions. The western Bays of Lake Taupo are easily accessible and the beautiful Huka Falls are a few minutes' drive away as is the 'Hidden Valley' of Orakei Korako with its silica formations, mudpools and geysers. The tourist area of Rotorua is only 40minutes' drive from Minarapa. Likewise The glowworm caves at Waitomo are reached within 1 1/2 hours as are the skifields and walking tracks of Tongariro National Park

Accommodations

Our large home which is approached by an impressive tree-lined drive, is surrounded by extensive grounds with mature trees, colouful garden beds and a grass tennis court. The lawns slope gently down to a pond and stream which separate the grounds from paddocks where we graze our friendly farm animals.Inside we have a games room with full-sized billiard table, fridge and TV for guest use and large lounge with feature fireplace. The dining area opens onto a covered verandah where guests may eat in summer.

Rooms/Suites

Upstaris there are three spacious guest rooms, two with ensuite bathroom and balcony. The rooms, which overlook the picturesque grounds all have individual character, comfortable beds (two queen-sized and one twin/king)with electric blankets, luggage racks and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom of one of the queen bed rooms adjoins a smaller twin bedroom, so that the three rooms in their own separate wing can be used for a family or group travelling together.The three bathrooms are well appointed with heaters, heated towel rails, toilets and showers over baths.In addition there is a guest toilet downstairs.

Amenities

As well as a full-sized billiard table, our largeguest lounge offers fridge, TV and DVD player for guest use and a wide selection of books. Energetic guests may also like a work-out on our grass tennis court!

Policies & Restrictions

Ours is a non-smoking home. Guests are not encouraged to bring their pets. Likewise our accommodation is more suitable for children of seven years or older.

Rates & Availability

We are open most times of the year.Double rates are from $NZ90 -$120 and the single rate is $75-$90.We charge $30 for children.

Other Information

As well as farm animals we have a cat and a dog and a tame duck (on the pond!)Our interests include gardening, golf the arts, bridge and travel.Barbara is a fluent German speaker

Directions

From the NORTH travelling on State Highway 1Oruanui Road is approximately 30 minutes' south of TOKOROA and exactly 21 -22 kilometres south of the Atiamuri Bridge (indicated by the directional signs to TE KUITI and KINLOCH just before the bridge). The right-hand turn-off into Oruanui Road is indicated by the blue Raod sign and a green KINLOCH sign. Minarapa is 2.5 kilometres along Oruanui Road on your left. The name and number are on the gateposts.From the SOUTHDrive through Taupo, cross the CONTROL GATE BRIDGE over the oulet to the Lake and go almost 1 kilometre up the road, keeping to the left-hand lane. Turn into the second road on your left called POIHIPI ROAD (indicated by a road sign and directional sign for TE KUITI on the right). Travel almost 7 kilometres along Poihipi Road until the SALEYARDS corner where you turn right into Oruanui Raod. Minarapa is 6.2 kilometres along Oruanui Road on your right.
