The town of Southampton has amalgamated with neighbours Port Elgin & Saugeen Township to become "Saugeen Shores". You'll find plenty of sandy beach to enjoy nearby, plus picturesque architecture and a quaint downtown in what has been called "The Oldest Port on the Bruce Coast". If you are interested in the more adventurous pursuit of canoeing and kayaking, you'll enjoy the Saugeen. There are events on a regular basis, weekly activities, fishing, golf, outdoor concerts, art, history, classic cars, shopping, tennis, old fashioned market and much, much more. You'll find a real steam train in Port Elgin. This miniature 24 gauge steam engine and cars take you for a one mile ride along the waterfront. Enjoy the Flea Market and Beach Carnivals, an Historical walking tour, and cycling tours. Sauble Beach, with it's attractions for the kids is just down the road.The Bruce County Museum & Archives, and the Southampton Art school are things to see. Experience a Pow Wow with the Saugeen First Nation and partake of the scenic view from their stone amphitheater. There is so much here to see and do for everyone.
