On a scale of 1 to 10, we care 10. From the free pancake breakfast, to the weekly barbeques, to the authentic movie theatre, to the extra big wooden bunk beds (made to our specifications), we have strived to make our hostel feel like home.

A little bit about the hostel:

Canadiana Backpackers Inn is the most centrally located hostel in town (please see photographs). Right in the heart of the Entertainment District we are only three blocks from the CN Tower, the Rogers Centre (Skydome), the Metro Convention Centre, and one block from Toronto's trendiest street, Queen Street West. We are the closest hostel to the centre of town, saving you costly street car fares.

Both the guide books and our guests say, 'Canadiana feels like home'. But why?

Housed in 1886 Victorian townhouses the hostel has been carefully restored to it's original splendour, with high ceilings, hardwood floors, and original fixures.

As fellow travelers we know how important it is to make people feel at home. Our lounge with it's soft lighting and comfortable seating is a place where it's easy to relax over a beer and chat with other guests. If you prefer coffee or tea, help yourself, it's free.

We offer accommodation to suit everyone, from private rooms (single and double), to quad rooms (4 people to a room), to female only rooms. All the rooms are spacious with thick, comfortable mattresses and extra big wooden bunk beds.

Our hostel has it's very own 18 seat surround sound cinema. The screen is 10ft by 8ft and the seats are from a Lockheed L1011 airplane. So relax and enjoy one of our two shows a day.

Feeling lonely? Don't, as every night we organize an event from pub crawls, to comedy nights, to barbeques served on our outdoor patio overlooking the CN Tower.

Description of Rooms/Suites

We have shared type rooms mainly for budget travellers and backpackers. Quad rooms with a maximum of 4 beds and dorms rooms with a maximum of 6 beds. We do have double private and single private rooms for couples and travellers who need privacy.

Directions

irections:
GENERAL We are located on Widmer Street, which runs north on the east side of the Holiday Inn on King Street. We are at 42 Widmer St.—just one block North of the Holiday Inn. It's approximately 1 minute walk.

AIRPORT Take the Downtown Airport Express bus ($16.45) to the Holiday Inn on King St. then walk one block North on Widmer.

BUS TERMINAL Exit the terminal at the Bay St. exit, turn right (South) on Bay St. and just after the intersection with Dundas is a bus stop. Take the #6 bus South to King Street. (Ask the driver for a transfer ticket.) At King St. get on the King West streetcar (#504), go West and get off at the Holiday Inn on King. (see above). Or walk to the hostel from the bus station - 10 mins.

UNION TRAIN STATION Get to the subway (ticket $2.75) and immediately after getting your ticket punch the machine that will give you a transfer. Then take the University line North (not the Yonge line) and get off at the first stop - St. Andrews, which is actually on King St. Get on the King West streetcar and get off at the Holiday Inn on King (about 5 blocks).

CAR From the Gardiner Expressway exit at Spadina Ave and head North. Drive 3 big blocks to Adelaide St. and turn right (East). Continue another two blocks then turn left on Widmer St. (Widmer is one block after Peter St.)

PARKING: If you have a car and require parking once you arrive, we do have parking spots available, on a first come first serve basis. Please inquire at front desk for parking spaces.
